The "Ignore" Feature

I just learned you could click on a username, get their profile page, and then add them to your "ignore list". Maybe this should be a sticky?

just ignore him using the option found in everyone's profile. One click and you won't even realize he's here. Let's not get so emotionally invested if someone is "real" or not. If you don't like his advice, don't read it.

I don't think that's an epiphany enough to merit a sticky, but it is a nice feature to have, which I employ every now and again.

This is my opinion but I never use the "ignore" feature on any message board.
NOBODY'S post should EVER get you that emotional.

I love the feature because, in theory, it cuts down on the number of posts I have to sifted through that I know won't interest me. I'm not sure yet it actually works though. Still testing it out, lol.

The bad thing about the ignore feature is the idiot you have on ignore can talk shit about you or your threads and you won't see it. Then it looks like your "guilty" by not responding.

I don't dislike anyone enough to put them on ignore, even the guys I have little time for overall can still post some very good intel which I would not want to miss out on knowing. Apart from the odd childish flare up of tempers ( of which I do not exclude myself ) I think we are quite a harmonius group with a common aim. Roosh runs quite a tight ship fortunately so anyone being out of order would probably be suspended before I'd need to use the feature.
The only people I would consider ignoring are people who post in text speak and make no effort to punctuate.

I put all Brits on the forum on the ignore list, one certain Swede, two Aussies, one fucking muppet, and that faggot that bombarded the forum with gay porn on 2/11.

On this old video game forum I used to go to (maybe five years ago?) there was this very passive aggressive douchey computer nerd who used to get into spats with all the bigwigs on the forum. You could see that the forum was really important to him because he'd spent so much money on it.
If he figured out you had an ignore feature enabled on him (with scripts or whatever), he'd do nothing but ride your nuts forever until one day you'd check out the forum, forget to log in, and find out that roughly a third of threads had him defaming you, and have been for weeks. Then you'd see some guys agree and get kind of pissed.
While that won't happen here because the moderation staff is pretty cool, as far as I'm concerned, the jungle's out there, the forum is supposed to be a watering hole.

I only thought about ignoring a poster once but then I would miss a possible ban/meltdown too. The ban never happened and although I think the guy makes lots of posts that make little sense, I have read some good advice from him also.
Then again, I have quite a short fuse sometimes and have the tendency to have the last word. Nobody's perfect and I just need to count to ten or let something rest for a while.
Aliblahba makes a good point also. If you ignore some one he can make fun of you behind your back.

I feel ya, man.
Whenever someone uses my name, I need to know about it.
Because, as you know, the Internet is serious business.

If you put someone on ignore, you can still actually see when they post and there's an option to reveal the post if you really want to see it.
Of course, if you have felt that someone is worthy of 'ignore status', then I don't feel that they'll ever be an occasion that you should feel like you should see what they've posted. Unless you can't manage your curiosity or you want to see if they're talking shit about you (as Ali mentioned).

After yet another run in with our one lettered superhero aka The Phantom aka the invisible man, I decided to use the ignore function.
So far I have 5 people on the list. Works like a charm. I still get curious sometimes when one of those 5 guys posts something after me in the same thread but I can choose to see that specific post if I want and react accordingly.
It saves me lot of reading time to cut out not only posts from people who I don't believe a word they say and their groupies but also from people who like to bully other posters a bit too much.
A step closer to Zen.

I don't think it has anything to do with emotion. You are just saving your time by not having to sift through shit.

I'm bumping this thread because quite frankly I'm sick and fucking tired of the Roissy types ruining my experience here at the forum. For those that don't know you CAN ignore specific members.
No, I'm not having a meltdown, settle down mods.

Fisto had me on ignore for some reason. I was going to message him with a question about something recently and it said I couldn't message him because he blocked me. I don't recall ever getting into it with him over anything.
