August is actually the worst month for weather in Miami, it's either like a sauna outside, or it's raining. The rain can also come out of nowhere.

So does it completely suck?

Would you avoid it if you have the choice?
I live in Miami, and if I had the option of not having to spend any of August here, I would certainly, without a doubt, take that option.

I really look forward to having that option available in the next couple years.

The summers don't bother me much, Im halfway through my second summer. It honestly felt just as hot in DC.

Ive noticed no drop in talent, but probably because I spend most of my time of the locals side of the island.

Just read through this whole thread. I'm in a unique position where I have a location independent job and the chance to move to Miami for the winter. I'm a consultant with an east coast customer so I would be there most weeks and back in Miami for a 3 day weekend.

I was looking at The Flamingo for a Dec-April lease. There seems to be plenty of people trying to lease out a furnished bedroom in their condos. Since I won't be there a ton I wouldn't mind having a roommate, provided they're a reasonable person. I just spent the weekend down there and think that as a confident white dude who speaks good Spanish I could crush this city. I wouldn't have a car so think living in SoBe would be preferable.

Does anyone have any advice/thoughts on The Flamingo? Thanks.

It's a smart move in my opinion, decent apartments, reasonably priced, doorman, pretty good location. If I were planning on staying in South Beach for an extended period of time, The Flamingo is one of the first places I would look.

Thanks for the swift reply, and confirming my initial thoughts. I'm coming back down for a weekend in a month and will hopefully check out some apartments then.

I made the move from DC to Miami a few years ago. I love it here, but it is definitely not for everybody. I love latin girls and I speak Spanish, so for me it is heaven. Also, your experience will be very different depending on where you live. SOBE is very touristy and European. If you just want to party, it is the place to live. SOBE is like a fairytale world. Brickell is more young professionals. It is pretty relaxed during the week, but blows up on the weekends. If you have a real job, I recommend you live in Brickell. I live here and I absolutely love it. There are also some nice places in Coral Gables by UM. The area around Sunset is really nice. The Design District, just north of Downtown, is also a cool spot. But make sure that you live close to where you are going to work. Commuting is absolutely terrible.

One more thing, come here with an open mind. Miami is like no other place in the world. It’s not Fort Lauderdale, it’s not Tampa, it’s not NYC or DC. It’s just different. Unlike DC, no one gives a shit about where you went to school or what your job title is. The best way I could describe it is that it’s like a third world country mixed with Hollywood and the French Riviera. When you come here, 40% of the people you meet will not speak English. You will see kids driving around in Porsches and Ferraris. There is a huge amount of flash over substance. But it is fun as hell.

Send me a PM if you want some more info.

I agree Miami is awesome. I would also recommend Miami Lakes for young professionals, it's a bit expensive but nice and close to everything.

I was seeing around 1200-1300 for bedroom with private bath in a 2BR residence. Brickell was more in the 1700-1800 range for something in a nice building. I could afford it, but can't really justify it given how much I'm travelling onsite to my client.

Yep, 1 bedroom in flamingo goes for around 1200. It's a dope spot though. It's worth it when you're paying $800 anyways for a shitty little studio that's 80 years old. So many hotties there too. A lot of then are fucking for rent.

When I was still living in South Florida my boy had a 1 bedroom at Flamingo about $1800 a month.

Went to a party with some dude in the management office he told me some stories. He said the building is/was 70% female 20% homo and 10% straight guys.

A lot of Bang Bros and other porn is filmed there. And yeah, lot's of the girls living there work in the "clubs".

Makes sense, I've heard it's just one giant party. Tons of blowcaine and pool parties. The only downside is that some of the classier native Miami girls might be turned off by it. If I want to focus on tourist sluts in South Beach then it doesn't matter, but if I want to give off a little classier vibe then Brickell might be better.

Some of the girls living there also just have a dude they'll bang once or twice a month and he'll cover their rent. I banged a former playboy model that lived there, she said she paid 13k but it will varrie depending on the floor and appartment. If you want a roommate you can probably get a two bedroom a little cheaper. Idk about the ratios but I can confidently say that it seemed like there were for sure more girls than guys and now that you mention it there were a lot of homos too. They have lots of amenities like a dope pool, gym, restaurant, dog grooming, and who knows what else.

I really liked north Miami beach area. If I move back that's probably where I'll post up. There's all sorts of good local restaurants and the beaches are awesome. It's also where little brazil and little buenos aires are located. You're in between south beach and adventure but don't have to deal with all the traffic going through there. It's a short cab or bus ride to Sobe.

How far north you talking? Since I'm only going to be there short term I want better logistics for swooping from bars, and think Brickell or somewhere in the heart of SoBe would provide that.

I'm thinking around 70th, which is 50 blocks, 10-15 minute drive from Sobe. North beach has some pretty decent day game opprotunities as well.

Maybe a special mention to Sunny Isles crawling with Russian babes. If you are into them of course. There's lots of them congregating around Russian food stores.

I've mentioned this spot in AP before, but think I gave the wrong cross streets and I didn't know the name, but I went to it last night so now I can provide more.

At 21st and 21st, close to a Jensen's Liquors and Walgreens, there's a place called New Coffee Drink. Last night they charged $5 to get in, I previously went on a Sunday, and there was no cover charge. Anyway, the place was wall to wall girls, and the competition aka interference, was minimal.

Just got back from another night at New Coffee Drink aka New Cafe. Man it was thick. This time I went with a chick, but I wish I had not. Girls were getting pulled left and right. I left the girl I came with for a moment to go talk this Colombiana and she assumed I was with my GF, but gave me her number. I figured, ok whatever I'll knock that down another day. 10 minutes later, I'm dancing with the girl I came with, and another dude is taking her away from the dance floor to go outside. Some time later when I leave, said girl and guy are getting out of a car parked outside the club, and her makeup wasn't anywhere near as fresh as it was when I had talked to her, and dude's shirt was off -- he didn't dance anymore than 5 minutes with the girl before they took off.

Anyway, about New Cafe, you can bet on it pretty much any Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. They seem to change which night is free, sometimes it's Friday, sometimes Sunday, the cover has never been more than $5, and it's always been thick with talent. The girl I went with tonight, I met there several weeks ago. It's mostly Dominicanas, but you'll find some non-Dominicanas there, and they are typically all over the Black Dominicanos.

There's also a new place in AP further down 36th, past Bully, going towards Hialeah called Romance. Romance goes down on Thursday nights. When I first started going in February, it was a nice, intimate crowd. Now, by 12, you'll have a hard time finding parking, at least anything free and close. I can say again, always thick with talent.

For those who like Dominican girls, AP is a goldmine.

Just an update, New Cafe is now closed down.

Most of that crowd now goes to Batting Cage which is right across the street from the Marlins Stadium. It's full of Dominican and Central American women on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Skip Sunday, there's a band called Bachamambo that does more talking than singing, and they only play merengue.

Friday is the best night, more Dominican, Saturday is more Central American, but with Dominican music.

I'm very high on a new spot in Miramar called Club 7. It's really a Dominican place to me because of the music they play, it's off Miramar Parkaway, if you hit it from the West, from the East off 95, take Hallandale Beach Blvd.

Again, heavy on Dominican music, but more upscale than what you'll find in the Dominican hood, Allapattah. It's a small, intimate place, not your typical club environment and it goes down on Friday and Saturday, but Saturday is probably the better night in terms of the crowd, but it's more of a date night than Friday is.

Last week, I pulled a chick from Cafe Iguana during the Happy Hour, and then I took her to 7 for the late night, I'll probably run the same game tonight.

Before I forget, also let me up one up Justin's in Bayside. Justin's used to be in Aventura and they moved it to the location in Bayside where Off the Hookah is. It's the same building, but on Friday night OTH is in the small room and plays hip-hop, in the backroom is Justin's, it's much bigger than their old Aventura location, and it's full of chicks. The night I went, I was overwhelmed with the amount of ass that was in that place.
At this place, you have to go hard or go home.

Rewinding for a second, there's a lot of talk about Black men and Latin women, if you're a Black dude and you live here, get your Latinas from Broward. All the Latin nights I go to, most of the time the girls are either alone in groups or they are on a date with a Black man. It's a very stark contrast to what I'm used to seeing, and you will not see that dynamic anywhere near as much in Dade, most of the women in Dade are Cuban, and they're ingrained with prejudice before they can walk.

Damn almost forgot, Hollywood has also gotten into the Bachata game, there are two spots during the week, Legends Cafe and La Vendetta that now have bachata nights on Wednesday night, both are on the same street close to the Circle. I was supposed to go this week, but some things came up, so I'll check them out next week and report back.

I really need to do my Latin clubs data sheet, I believe I've hit them all, especially the noteworthy ones that the radio stations tend to go to.
