Going to Rio on jan 15 - 23

Sup everyone.

Me and a buddy are going to rio in jan and i would like to ask a few questions and get some helpful insight.

We already have paid for our airfare and apt, so i was wondering how much money should i plan to spend a day on food and going out to bars/clubs at night?

Also is it safe to carry a backpack around during the day?

What are some of the best bars/clubs that seem to be the best for approaching females? (friendly, speaks alittle english, not all surrounded by brazilian guys ect.)

Thanks! Any useful advise or tips for us first time Rio travelers would be much appreciated!

I would suggest looking through the other Rio threads. There are a ton on here and we elaborate on some good bars and clubs. I'll do a little run down....

Expensive rich/hot girl clubs (Not going to be the easiest)
-Namaste
-Baronetti
-Zero Zero

If you like more of a middle class/gringo/alternative hangout, Casa De Matriz. I would not suggest it though. Minimal hot girls and really not all that fun

Rio Scenario in Lapa is a fun spot. A lot of people speak English there as well. It's decent for girls.

I would not suggest wearing a backpack around during the day. You might be able to do it and be fine, or you may be assaulted. To me, it's just a better idea to leave the backpack at home.

Money: Plan on spending a fuckload. I didn't have to pay for a place to stay, and I spent more in 2 weeks in Rio than I have in almost two months in Brazil. It's expensive as a mofo for clubs and if you get sick of Big Bi plan on spending a pretty penny on decent food as well.

Honestly, Rio is a fun place, but I'm starting to think it's a little overrated. It's not THE BEST place for picking up. It's not real hard, but I think there are better places, and it's expensive as fuck. It is a beautiful city though with lots of nice things to see.

I posted a list awhile back that had all the major nightclubs on it. Search back maybe 2 months.

It's pretty damn expensive like Brandon said. I feel like I was spending well over $100 a day. For what I don't even remember at this point, but all I know is that I was pulling a few hundred Reais out the ATM damn near every other day. I think the next time around though, I could potentially get it down to $50 a day. Now that I've done all the expensive "must see and do" stuff like hang glide over Tijuca forest, go to the Christ statue, to the sugar loaf($$$), I don't need to do that again. That's the kind of shit that was killing my budget. Maybe a few less frou frou restuarants in Ipanema and more juice bars for food and I should be able to bring costs down dramatically. And of course those $75 cover clubs in Leblon are off the table. Unless it's New Years Eve or I'm getting a free blow job on entry, no club is worth that kind of cover.

That's what a couple of them were charging that I went by. But I've heard of $100 covers too.

They have those clubs in Rio, but they're about USD 200 to enter and "play."
