And Russia lost, deservedly so I am sad to say.
Euro 2012
It's always been like that with Russian teams.
They are volatile. They can be brilliant in one game, mediocre or downright crap in the next. Same goes for individual players like Arshavin and Pavlyuchenko.
The only Russian player to play a consistently excellent game in this Euro is Dzagoev. Who, BTW, happens to be not an ethnic Russian but an Ossetian.

Denmark and the Netherlands got eliminated today. Holland exists with 0 points.
So we're getting into the heart of the action now with the 1/4 finals starting on Thursday.
Yesterday, Spain had all the troubles in the world to beat a very strong Croatian team. Italy made it through the skin of their teeth...today, England has a good chance to make it through plus they get Rooney back against a vaillant Ukrainian team. We play against Sweden who are already out of the tournament.
Team that finishes 1st in Group D meets Spain on Saturday in the 1/4, 2nd plays Italy. While Spain is not as strong, at least defensive and up front as 2 years ago, they're still a formidable team and I'd rather play this aging and limited Italian team than the Spaniards.
So the 1/4 finals will be:
Germany-Greece
Portugal-Czech Republic
Spain-2nd of Group D
1st of Group D - Italy

Christiano Ronaldo = One man team.....
He finally started delivering for the NT at least in the group stage...let's see if he does it in the 1/4 and beyond...
Predictions: Spain will beat France. England will Italy will play out a drab 1-1 with the match going to penalties and Italy edging out England with Buffon magic.
Based on reputation and expectation this is the worst England team in history, Still finished top of the group and makes it clear how little some on this thread understand about football.
Italy may be too big a step and I agree with there being a high chance of a penalty involved but how this game goes may well depend on wether the ref lets Italy get away with their usual cheating and diving. I doubt both teams will finish with 11men on the pitch

They looked like shit versus Ukraine tho. I really felt Ukraine got hoed but IMO England has just had lucky breaks they have not looked that dominate at all in any matches thus far. Even with Rooney they looked flat today.
It's a standard Roy hodgson to defend defend defend, I know he encourages pressing play and attacks at specific times but every team he ever managed plays dull defensive football.

Germany- Portugal and Spain - Italy, by far the better teams and matches so far. All of them obvious title contenders.
All of them went through, and all of them are favourites in the quarter finals:
GERMANY - greece
PORTUGAL - czech
SPAIN - france
ITALY - england
SF:
PORTUGAL - spain
GERMANY - italy
F:
GERMANY - portugal
I'm thinking a Spain vs. Germany final, of course at this stage who knows what can happen.
