The ratio on POF is at least 10 to 1 and any average looking woman gets bombarded with up to 100 messages per day so its mostly a waste of time. This also causes unjustified raised ego's of very average women. They may also possibly think your friend is married or has fake pictures such is the level of cynicism on there.

Some real life observations from London:

- POF isn't really big in England, neither are dating sites in general. (It doesn't really work for most men in most places, but that's besides the point.)
- British people don't really care about ancestry, at least not to the extent that Americans care. Most local English people don't really know their ancestry past a few generations, because it isn't really a melting-pot of multi-culture. Foreign girls in London will be more interested, especially if your ancestry and her's relate. At any rate, you won't get bonus points for being American.
- If you want to get laid in London, you'll have to go out and game. It is as simple as that. It is the same as anywhere else.

English 1 and 2 in college is basically reading literature.The American college educational system actually prepares us for practical work ,not to be poets. However, being in law enforcement I spent over a decade writing reports in a certain way that only a certain segment of society is suppose to understand (lawyers ,judges,etc). Odessa does not have a large amount of English speaking tv channels or access to films. I always had trouble in that Dept. Its not easy to come by like in Kiev. Was out in Islington last night again drinking outside the York pub. Tried meeting up with Bojangles but he was locked onto his own mission so another time.

Number closed a French girl from Corsica who had just arrived in the city from Gatwick ( still had her luggage ), Lithuanian waitress in Giraffe restaurant ( I think she had BO though so will ignore ), sunburnt English girl who was the hottest and coolest of the evening ( posh home counties-public school type that I love ), English charity worker who was the least attractive but the most DTF ( she said she had a stunning Russian friend who she was travelling to Georgia with this summer so I will work a way into meeting her ).

Unfortunately I closed these numbers in front of the girl I was up there to meet. I had told this girl before that since she is only 18 that it would never be any more than sex so she should never fall for me. Of course she promised and said she just wanted someone to fuck and then discard. Cool. Then as we left the pub to go get something to eat she said "do you know how shit you just made me feel by flirting like that ion front of me?". I explained the rules again and she said she understood and was just being drunk and emotional. Then when I number closed the waitress in Giraffe she started sobbing. I didn't feel good about that tbh. Anyway I was now turned off by her and starting to notice flaws like too much make up and overpowering perfume and decided to ditch. Walked her up to Angel Islington station and said I'd decided not to stay the night after all and would put her on a tube home. She was getting stroppy and crying in the street and saying "just go!" so I walked off and left her. Called the French-Corsican and met for a drink, had a kiss and cuddle and then I caught the train back to the south coast cursing the fact that I live in the provinces.

All in all another great night out in London. I'm off to Nice tomorrow so can't follow up on the numbers too strongly but will work on the charity worker to meet her Russian friend.

My experience as being half american/half english in the UK and London in particular is that simply being American doesn't have the effect most yankee guys think it will. An English guy can have his pick of the bunch in the states but over here being American is merely enough to get you in the door. Plus you've got to think that as one of the biggest tourist destinations in the world, London is full of Americans. There also is a lot of money floating around in this city and that is shown by the general price of things. My best advice for your mate would be to forget about POF and try to meet girls in other ways. Islington, Croydon, Central, all great places for day and night game as others have mentioned.
