Recently had a weekend to kill and wanted to get out of LA and hit a nice sandy beach, sunshine and some ladies. Was gonna hit Hawaii but couldn't get on the flight, so with bags packed for the beach had to improvise on the fly. This is what brought me to Punta Cana to test my luck and skill.
General vibe feel: Total resort town (mostly all inclusive) with a nice stretch of beach, white sand, blue water and different resorts stacked up next to each other. Resort town is definitely not my usual style but again this was an improvised trip so you roll with it.
Hospitality/Drinks/Food: All inclusive beach resorts are the only way to go here. I stayed at Paradisus Beach Resort and booked my room through Kayak.com and paid $230/night (tax included) for a VERY player suite/villa in a separate part of the hotel called "The Reserve". Big jacuzzi tub, fancy shower with multiple jets, patio, very modern decor with an Asian Zen touch. Dimmers on every light also which is perfect for setting the mood. Wired Internet only in the room, which was a disappointment for me. I really like to have wireless because then I can use wifi calling on my cell phone and still do work in the states pretty seamlessly.
All inclusive as I mentioned before as well. This included food at any one of the 7 restaurants of which I tried 3 and all were pretty good. Also included alcohol. Surprisingly decent as well, at least in the whiskey department which is my drink of choice. Jack Daniels was the whiskey they would pour but on the vodka front you were drinking Smirnoff and if you want to upgrade to Grey Goose it'll set you back $8. The staff at the hotel (bartenders, waiters) are EXCELLENT. They make you feel like they want to serve and are always smiling and joking. +1 to the Dominican staff for real. If I went again, for logistic reasons which I'll get into later, I would stay at the complex where the club Mangu is located, Hotel Occidental Grand.
Girls/scene/going out:
Mostly couples you will find during the day but there are groups of girls wandering around as well who are vacationing together. Luck of the draw as you can get a strong weekend with lots/fair amounts of girls, or can get a sleepy one with nearly all couples. Their are Dominican girls working in the restaurants and the on site Casino at night who are HOT and will give you time of day for sure, but you have to work them around their work schedule which can be tricky if you're only there for a couple days. The clubs have tourist girls from all over with a solid amount of Russian, Peruvian, Chilean girls that I met. Pretty high amount of Dominican hookers at the club Mangu you have to be wary of. The same hotel where the club Mangu is located, has a beach party every day with a DJ, etc. When I went it was a bunch of YOUNG high school spring beak chicks from Canada. It's apparently not always like this, but this was just a shitty draw on that day. BUT, I met a cool dude from Montreal there and he was telling me he has been killing it there for the past week and has banged 5 chicks already while staying at this resort. This was a combo of chicks from the club Mangu and also from the beach party.
My trip specifics:
Upon my arrival my room was not quite ready yet so I wandered down to the beach to check out the sprawling complex and what it had to offer. Didn't take me long to catch a cute Dominican girl sitting along one of the many lush and tropical paths a the resort taking pictures of the landscape. Not wasting any time I immediately approached her and started my rap. She was Dominican (from another part) and vacationing with her parents there, and running solo. She's in trouble now.
15 minutes later we agree to hook up at the hotel lobby bar later that evening. This goes according to plan and I'm back in my room with her no later than 11:30 and deal closed and wrapped by 1. She is mentioning something about a wack ass tour early in the morning (trying to get me to go on it but not a fuckin chance I do) so I use this as leverage to free myself from her grips and explore the nightlife. A little push that she should be well rested tomorrow works to a T and I'm clear to go out.
There are basically two nightclub options in Punta Cana. Mangu which is two doors down from my resort and then a place called Imagine which is about a 20 minute taxi ride. Imagine is apparently a nightclub in some caves, with different caves for different types of music but also loads of tourists. Sounds cool on principal, but it sounds like an Ibiza like touristy club to me. I figure I'm mostly going to get into tourists anyways, but there was some talk of Mangu having local girls. For logistic reasons and the prospect of local Dominican girls I immediately choose the closer of the two, Mangu. The plan was to check Imagine the next night, but that didn't happen due to a couple hot Russian girls who I'll discuss later.
Mangu is a typical club with 3 floors, big dance floor down in the bottom, but a middle floor set up well for swooping chicks overlooking the lower floor. Jack on the rocks set me back about $7-8 in there. Inside I found the mix to be about 50/50 between Dominican and a blend of other tourists girls, not many/any American that I met there which was a welcome sight. Many of the Dominican chicks in there unfortunately (most of the really hot ones it seemed) are hookers. Overall ratio was roughly 50/50 with lots of drunk cute chicks from all over looking for a good time. Stayed away from the hookers and met a group of girls from Peru one of who was really cute. Not FINE, but pretty damn cute with a nice body. I'm looking for round 2 of the night, I'll gladly take this. After maybe an hour of hanging with these girls and me gaming my girl and making out with her, we all agree to leave and a nice surprise that my girls friend co-signs her going back to my hotel with me despite her not having anyone. I must commend the women of Peru if they are all like this.
We arrive at my hotel at 3-4AM, go past the lone security guard of this exclusive part of the resort which is dead still at this hour. Only to get 30 yards in and now this asshole who has nothing else to do at this hour calls something to me and starts talking about she doesn't have a wristband and cant come in. Give me a fuckin' break, not now. Dude is stuck on stupid about this. I try and throw him a nice fresh Ben Franklin and he won't even consider it. Crazy that its 4AM in the Dominican Republic and this dude wont take $100 to let this chick into my hotel when clearly nobody is around. After basically wanting to smack the dude, he says we need to call the front desk and add her as a guest to my room. This sounds easy enough....yeah right. Guy at the front desk tries telling me its $290 to add her. Not a chance I'm paying that.
She says let's go back to my hotel. Get to her hotel and they tell me the same BS there cause I don't have a wristband. At this point her panties are dripping wet and I can't do shit about it but fuck her in a bush somewhere which I'm not into doing especially when one is already knocked down. This is just icing on the cake. I throw in the towel and get her info and now she's begging me to come to Lima all the time. Not at the top of my travel list right now but maybe soon.
The next day the plan is to chill around the beach, catch up on some work, and spit at some fly girls hopefully. Problem is, I'm still bugging about last night and need a solution. Solution found! The wrist bands are a little wooden shell like thing with two pieces of string clamped together. Pull it apart and you can still tie it enough for a little flash to the security guard. So the next morning I dismantle it and go to the front desk and tell them I was diving in the ocean and lost the wristband. They give you a new one. KEY: Tell them your wrist band was lost doing anything active and get a 2nd wristband to have for a chick being brought back from anywhere outside your resort. Could of used it last night, but you live you learn and I can pass the tip to you guys now. If someone gets laid with this trick, all I ask for is a shout out.
The next day while eating lunch I'm noticing that the resort seems to be almost all couples with some groups of chicks at the pool and beach but not very many. Then I notice a couple long legs and nice asses which I immediately guess to be EE of some sort. They set up shop on the beach and your boy not so coincidentally sets up just outside them within earshot. I open them shortly thereafter, and find out they are from Russia (St. Petersburg) and speak almost NO English, this could be problematic. In a club environment, not a chance with these chicks because its too loud, but on the beach with time to kill I figure I can slowly work them over. The afternoon passes and I've built about as good a rapport as possible with them and I decide to move this from the beach to one of the swim up bars in the pool and they agree. There is a blonde with nice tits and great legs, and a brunette with a nice slim body all the way around. Both have pretty faces for sure. I've learned the slightly hotter of the two (blonde) has a guy "friend" with her there somewhere. She makes it CLEAR its not her boyfriend and is the one asking me questions about me, "Are you married?" "How old are you?" etc. A good sign.
After hitting the pool and flirting now with both of them we decide to go back to their rooms to drink some whiskey which they have in there. This could be a Russian threesome before dark, I like where this is headed! Walking back to their room we run into the blondes "friend" who is a big oger Russian guy who I'm thinking cannot be fucking this chick and is now walking with us. Great scenario just turned to wack scenario. The girls then change the tune though (all communication is very difficult due to the about 3 words they know in English) and made it seem like I just walked them to their room and we agree to meet at the same lobby bar at 10PM.
Between dinner and 10PM, I swing by the Casino on the premises to check it out. In there is a really cute waitress who I start flirting with VERY successfully to the point where we have a set late night date outside the casino when she gets off at 3AM. While this flirting is going on, the dealer at the Blackjack table rotates to a STUNNER. One of the prettiest girls I have ever laid eyes on, seriously. I get a couple looks from her while dealing but can't to much while shes working. She doesn't speak great English, and I'm knee deep in flirting with the waitress.
Lobby bar at 10PM: This is where all the people who want to party in the resort tend to meet in the early part of the evening. Lobby bar closes at 2AM and the people that don't leave the resort go to this small nightclub in the resort. Not great, but played decent music and had girls to choose from who are staying in your resort, this is like shooting fish in a barrel really. For hotel clubs though, Mangu is better.
Russian girls show and are ready to get drunk! Hot blonde who I thought for sure was into me earlier tells me "Now my friend has a friend" with a smile, talking about me. Cool, I thought I was fucking you, but I'll take her. Fast forward 3-4 vodka shots later and more flirting and the little on-site club opens and they want to go. We go there, dance and I start hooking up with the Brunette and shes into it. (Meanwhile I have forgotten about my date at 3AM) She goes to the bathroom and the blonde comes up and starts dancing with me and grinding her ass all over me for about 2 minutes and giving me all kind of indicators she wants it. All the while her Russian oger dude is being a total loser and basically taking a nap on of the couches. She then sees her friend come back and playfully pushes me away with a smile before her friend can see.
End of the night now and the brunette tells me to come back to her room with her to "drink". Ok, this is a wrap! Walking back the hotel its quiet except for a group of mostly older Russians (guys and girls) sitting in the lobby and drinking vodka. Having my little trophy Russian with me and feeling good, why not have a drink with them before going off and closing the deal? I don't see ANYONE who is a threat to swoop my chick in front of me at this point. Terrible move on my part and I slipped hard in my game. I speak ZERO Russian and my chick speaks almost ZERO English and I should not have put her in front of ANY Russian males. I'm talking to some old lady and her husband drinking a vodka while my chick is talking for a few minutes to some dude who has a Kenny Powers mullet and the body of the Pillsbury Doughboy. Not worried. We leave and next thing I know we are going to the room and this dude has basically invited himself to come and "drink" with us. Fuckin' nightmare situation cause I can't communicate properly with her nor with him as he doesn't speak English either. She is holding my hand and we are still kissing etc but now we have this dude in tow. We get to the room and this dude is one stubborn fuckin' Russian and wont leave. I'm ready to come to blows with this dude and now the girl wants to go to bed cuz of the situation. Not a chance in hell I'm gonna walk out and let this dude get it, if I'm not getting it, neither is he. We FINALLY leave together and he goes one way and I the other. My plan is to walk 50 yards and then turn around and go back. I walk 30, glance back, and he is in a full sprint to her door. Unbelievable, swooped by the Russian Kenny Powers on one I had in the bag. ALL my fault, but you live you learn.
Overall Breakdown: Definitely not the #1 spot to go and pull chicks in the Dominican, but its cheap to fly there and I find $230 (regular room is $170 all inclusive) for a VERY nice room and everything paid for a great deal. If you go and cant find anything at the resort OR the clubs at night, I would be very surprised. Buying chicks drinks there is non-existent(except at the club Mangu for me as I wasn't staying there) as all the girls at the resort already have free drinks also, nice perk. This trip should have been three chicks in 2 nights without too much effort, but one factor I learned about the hard way and another of sheer stupidity cost me two of them.
Nice beaches, nice resort, affordable and while chicks are not out by the boatload during the day, they are creeping around at night and you should be able to get a flag or two.
