The movie 'SHAME'

Just watched the new movie 'shame' Struggling to see whats so shamefull about it though? Guy was just like me when i was 21, except much smoother and cut out the gay club scene. Like a subliminal/feminist ghost writer behind it i think. Good thing I watched 'American Beauty' straight after it. If you have the time, (and your a deep thinker at times), watch them back to back.

I was liking that movie and then it really took a turn for the worse. The shameful part was that I paid to watch it.

Awful movie. Wish I could get that time back.

Expect more of this as society tries to come to grips with the fact that men in their 30s and 40s are increasingly single and not desiring women for anything more than sex. They will SHAME this behavior until they stamp it out (or so they think).

Guys, I think you didn't understand the movie. (spoiler alert)

The point is not the fact he is single at his 30's somethings... He has an impulse for sex no matter what. When he needs to have sex, he runs to get tired, not only the exercise itself.... He had a homo experience for lack of woman... He is an orgasm addicted. In the time he meets his coworker and can't have a healthy relationship with her because of his obsession.

Did you notice that his sister has issues too? She have sex with any random man? Mommy and Daddy issues my friend!

Watch the movie again... You are talking nonsense

I'm lazy about going to the theater, but I anxiously anticipate this coming to cable tv. I've been seeing previews for it, so the time is near. I love independent films that deal with subjects the mainstream is squeamish about, and I like the actors in this film. I think part of the problem with these kinds of films is the general audience doesn't like films that are somewhat slow-moving, or anything that isn't obvious or too thought-provoking. I had this debate with friends about "The American." Since it wasn't nonstop action, and was largely about one man, walking around and thinking, most of my friends hated it. Very few, like myself, enjoyed it.

You are missing the obvious. They couldn't come right out and shame a man for doing what most guys on this forum do, so they made him a little more extreme, so that viewers will see him as perverted and his behavior as shame worthy. The underlying message is clear, at least to me and probably many on this forum.

Anyway, I expect we'll see more movies along these lines over the next few years as the "Are there any good men left?" meme gets more national attention, and you can come here and explain to us how we're wrong about those too.

Why do people on this board get prissy about how such and such is portrayed in movies? Are your convictions really that weak? It's fiction! You don't have to look for ulterior social agendas in everything.

I thought the movie was pretty good.

I thought the movie was entertaining in general, besides, the girl in the train scene at the end made up for the bad bits.

Garbage movie. I was expecting hardcore addiction to sex but nope. I'm sure the director or writer was a feminist. The guy just likes sex (who doesnt) and is "shamed" because he's in his thirties, is not married, has his own upscale apartment and has sex whenever he wants. He uses seduction to get legit girls, and also hookers when he has an impulse. Nothing wrong with that. Another display that Hollywood is still run by cunts and beta males.

This is why I can't never disagree here. Because I am a girl. A girl who has Cinema Studies in her resume, in fact. So, give more reasons for me being wrong, despite the fact that I am a girl.

I liked the film a lot. It's about more than just sex. It's about trying to fill a void with things that don't give you any real satisfaction. A reflection on consumer society and the hedonic treadmill.

Having sex never sated his desire and there was clearly something missing.

The main character is presented as quite likeable, charming, etc.

There's not some scary agenda behind everything, learn to appreciate works of art for what they are instead of immediately labeling them as representing one straw man or the other.

the things which are crossing the line are
1 the porn on his work computer
2 masturbation in office toilett
3 erectile dysfunction when emotional connection is involved
4 blowjob from gaydude
5 every male teenager has experienced this level of horniness, but has some self control. i dont believe that there is a strong[/align] addiction to orgasm, because every orgasm numbs the feeling of the next. so if you jerk of the 5th time a day there is no reward, just some weak drops of jizz
-> the character portrayed had some psychological problems with sex as his coping mechanism

i would say, the portray of this man is closer to the reality of a lot of males, then the average hollywood portray.
the comments in the imdb board come to the same conclusion

I took a girl to watch this movie; she was shocked and asked me why had I taken her to watch porn; nevertheless, I banged her. Maybe these erotic films are good to get a notch?

This would be true if this were a "Hollywood" film. It isn't. It's an independent film. This subject matter would never have been tackled this way by a mainstream Hollywood studio, and my understanding is that it was kind of explicit in some scenes. This film had a limited theatrical release, playing very few small screens, and it was a pretty short turnaround from theatrical release to On-Demand/cable and DVD release.

I liked this movie as well. It wasn't absolutely amazing, but definitely decent. Don't really get the hate on this forum. Perhaps comes too close to home for many and their hamster starts spinning?

Yes, the global feminist conspiracy theme often mentioned in the manosphere - there isn't one. There might be a will from the ruling class to preserve the status quo using variety of tools, but let's not mistake a puppet for the master.

I urge everybody to practice critical thinking and always question anyything regardless of the source, whether it's CNN or Fox News or Roosh or Roissy.

Saw this movie last night. Thought it was pretty good. The scene at the dinner table when he was on an actual date talking about relationship and marriage was good.

Dont plan on watching Shame, but my god what a great movie American Beauty is. Just started the first couple episodes of Spacey's new Netflix show House of Cards, I am enjoying it. I love Kevin Spacey.

American Beauty is a piece of shit movie written by two faggots. There's no real liberation in the movie, and it's incredibly mean-spirited, with a nasty gay agenda (the straight macho guy ends up being a repressed gay, etc.); Kevin Spacey (also a fag) has a very depressing kind of liberation, it's fake.
