Come on guys. As a French guy I can tell you that it's a stigma in France to admit that you don't wash everyday. Now of course this doesn't mean that everyone washes everyday. But if you don't and you start smelling, you'll be ostracized in the same way you would be in the US.

It's probably largely because of the consumer package goods industry and their wide assortment of hygiene products.

Forgive my goat like ignorance but I was under the impression that Mexico counted as Central America. Am I wrong and if so, where does Central America actually start?

Some people class Mexico as North America others as Central, some people only distinguish between North and South America and don't even consider Central America to exist at all.
