Small town strategy

Hey guys, I need some advice here on strategy for gaming in a small town (60K people, 2 decent clubs, 5 decent bars). I've been running game for about a year and have everything from day 2 to the lay sorted (very high close %), but my approaching is still quite confused. Basically my problem is that I prefer direct, in-her-face approach and escalation, and that was fun and worked when I live in a big anonymous city, but here is a small town and my target market (22-30) are also the people I am recruiting into my business. This makes me feel quite cautious/nervous when approaching at night, and I don't run day game as a result.

I'm new to the town so don't have a social circle or a bank of female friends for social proof.

I'd really appreciate some advice for a strategy, ideally from people who (what are the chances?) have been there, done that.

I really feel for you on this. I’m originally from a small town myself so I know how much of a nightmare it can be.

You have to be REALLY careful not to get a bad rep as every social circle is intertwined. I’ve known guys in my home town sleep with 10 girls over a summer and get shot down once rumours circulated. It’s also a massive drag constantly bumping into girls you’ve slept with in the few bars in town. At least you’ve not been brought up with the small town mentality, and have moved from elsewhere so are kind of anonymous.

You need to infiltrate social circles... Maybe try Couchsurfing, they can be quite easy going. I ended up hanging around with a load of musicians, by offering to take band photos etc. Maybe you could try a weekend bar job? Martial art? I don’t think this has anything to do with game, more to do with establishing yourself in a “scene” of some kind. If you’re already used to approaches, you must have seen an increase in confidence, so you should be fine simply socialising. It sounds weird, but sometimes you’re better targeting guys to hang out with.

These small places respond MASSIVELY to dhv.. You need to get with some known “cool” people or the in scene. Later, once you’re established, and have been seen with one or two of the hottest or most popular locals, all of a sudden things will change massively.

I hadn’t been home to my crappy small town in a while. Previously, I wasn’t getting much attention, despite being in a decent social circle... I didn’t really care, as I was only ever back there to visit friends. Never being seen with a girl definitely damaged my rep though. About a month ago, I brought a Portuguese girl back with me, who in my eyes was most definitely an 8. Just being seen in bars with her has had a weird effect on my social standing...And I don’t think it’s in my head either.

I think living in a place like this can be very negative for confidence. I’d only ever approached a couple of strangers in my entire life until a few years ago. I’ve always been lucky to have been popular, and so have had a constant stream of girlfriends since the age of 14... This has actually made game difficult for me. I really do believe small town mentality has made me more susceptible to oneitis... I’ve always been great at meeting girls once introduced, but always terrible at opening. To this day, I find Couchsurfing the easiest option when traveling. I’m so used to these closed social circles, I tend to perversely do very well!

The area where I live is actually shockingly similar to how Roosh describes in “Bang Iceland”... Weird but true.

Anyhow, long ramble, but wanted to show some support.

Boris.

Dude, thanks, this is massively helpful. Loads of good points in there, and some good warnings so hopefully I'll avoid seriously fucking things up for myself. And yeah, I wouldn't even be surprised if we're talking about the same place...
