The country I have been in for the past three months is....

Asia is a poor country compared to Europe and cultural differences are extreme so westerners will always have exotic factor over there. Having said that middle class Thai girls are not phased by foreigners at all... infact they are just as suspicious if not more than Europeans. I have no interest in Asian girls but I tried a few high end clubs bars in Manila and Bangkok and quite frankly I bombed compared to the girls you find in local bars etc.
Europe in comparison is so close to home I dont see how any American or English guy could have any true value over there. I doubt Russia or Ukraine was ever that easy. Language barriers would have been even higher for starters. Eastern europe girls are naturally aloof and cautious. Nothing has changed there in my opinion. We really need to stop fantasising about the glory days. If you are decent enough bloke you hold just as much value now as you might have 15 years ago. Run around like a drunken idiot running monkey game and you will get no where.

Exactly, when In Ukraine for example I don't dwell on tales of the "glory days" in FSU, i'm too busy concentrating on getting my end wet, and doing nicely.
We could get hit by a bus tomorrow, the glory days are now.

@AlphaTravel: I can tell you why Riga got destroyed: Too small of a city, too many tourists and a wrong kind of reputation. Whenever you ask some Western European guy getting married for easy and cheap women, he'll probably suggest a trip to Riga or Prague.
Same counts for Tallinn but those tourists are restricted to a certain area and 2-3 bars.. Plus there are actually people who go to Tallinn to see the old town and its surroundings, same counts for Prague but certainly not for quite ugly Riga.
Also, Latvians or should I rather Russian Latvians seem to have less of a problem to take over the capital with bars solely designed to rip foreigners off.
