Here's how to travel 25,000 miles without a penny

ACCOMMODATIONS AND ATTITUDES: In Latin America, he found that "people were very helpful if I went to their door and said, 'I have no idea where I will sleep tonight, can I sleep here?' There was this helpfulness, this hospitality, maybe because many people there are poor and they know how it feels. They didn't care about my story. But in the U.S., it was more about the story. They would say, 'This is cool, we want to help you reach your goal.' Americans really go for this."

Interesting. I like it better than the guy who was sponsored by a shoe brand to travel. Let's analyze the popularity factor: -Since posting the video in Feb 28 the video acquired 1,900 views.
-His other views on Videolla are in the hundreds.
-His book on Amazon has 4 reviews.
-Videos are high production quality with music and voice overs.
-He's published on Yahoo News

This tells me he's not a good story-teller even though the tag line is catchy. He is not marketing it well enough or just the fact that it's not crazy enough for Merikans to like since it lacks drama and suspense.

Humanitarian stuff like this is very respectable and commendable, but gosh darn it pop culture doesn't care. This is just like the Dirty Jobs show without the dirt. Good Luck buddy. You'd get more attention filming world game.

BTW, there's another show that's more entertaining: Thumbs Up America found on Netflix and Vice

I follow a guy on FB who's travelling around the world based on suggestions people on the internet give him. It's called Choose My Own Adventure and it started off with him going to the airport on the day of departure, seeing where he could fly that day without a visa and then throwing a poll up onto FB and Twitter. After a false start and not being able to go to Kenya he ended up in Argentina, was a bit dull to begin with people just had him eating steak, dancing tango and drinking red wine, then he ended up on Easter Island working on a fishing boat for a month, recently was in the Amazon doing tribal hallucinogenic drugs and is now in Colombia I think but my continued suggestions of cocaine and orgies seem to be getting ignored. Seems worth mentioning here rather than anywhere else.

Is this something experimental he's doing and self-funding it? or beyond that?

The niche market for people traveling cheaply is so large and broad now.
Everyone is doing it.
Everyone has a blog.
I have friend in manchester that took a year off and mad it through europe to australia working odd jobs and bartending, living out a backpack. and she's 25 and 5 feet tall.

Id bet her story is just as good as his.

On top of that. this is the first time ive seen this videolla thing.
concept is ok..but not many people are fans of paying one at a time or small amounts multiple times.
I think its got a flawed business model.
Money these days are made by advertising. and its kinda obvious he isnt getting it.

plus it looks like his show is on PBS??? no one watches PBS.

Since his ebook is cheap. im thinking of buying it anyway

I am the cock carousel

Yeah he's self funding it, he plans to be away for a year I think but only started off with 5,000 GBP so doesn't have that much money. He has to work whenever he can, based on suggestions his online fans give him. He also has to move country every month. I can see it ending all quite quickly. I lost interest pretty quickly when he wrote off all the more extreme suggestions myself and others gave him for things to do. Reading about tango lessons in Buenos Aires isn't my idea of fun.

Who said anything about making a profit? Who goes travelling to 'make a profit'?? Who cares if it's beta.

Yeah its kind of cool that world travel has gained so much acceptance in popularity. At the same time, if you are trying to make a blog or video diary of your travels it is a lot harder to stand out these days.

Then again, when you don't have to worry about going certain places or doing certain activities for the sake of an audience you truly own your experience.
