If this has already been posted I apologize. This is about a drug called Scopolomine that's been used in Columbia. It makes a roofie look like a tic tac.

Damn, that's some pretty intense shit. Imagine waking up with a kidney missing and not having a clue as to why.

Think there's already a thread dealing with this.

In Mexico, that plant is called 'Floripondio'. It's prohibited for garden shops to sell it, altough it's not prohibited to have one (actually my parents have one large Floripondio at their country house). It's known that a tea made from its flowers is a very dangerous drug.

With God's help, I'll conquer this terrible affliction.

I met a guy in Bogota who was robbed by some hookers who blew that stuff in his face, he was walking down the street and they approached him, next thing he knew, he woke up in a parking garage without his watch, wallet and necklace.

That was the only time I've heard of it. I don't think its all that prevalent, this happened to the guy in Santa Fe, the red light district of Bogota, the most fucked up place I've ever been and definitely not a place anyone, especially a Gringo, should be walking around alone at night (I went with a group of Colombian guys).

In modern times, the CIA used the drug as part of Cold War interrogations, with the hope of using it like a truth serum.

Just as a "truth serum?" I call bullshit. I'm not a hard core conspiracy theorist or anything, bit I didn't have to hear a mention of the CIA to know this drug had MK-Ultra written all over. Scary stuff...

From Wikipedia: "There have also been reports of tourists being robbed after having scopalmine slipped into their food or drink. Recently, these incidents have been reported in Thailand."

Dang.
