I don't mean to hijack your thread, but is there an official legit site to get bluebook amounts for cars?

Mechanico should I get an Accord if I just need a 4 door that's good on gas and is good under the hood?

Lol it's obviously a stick. And like mech said a chip won't get much extra from a 3 cylinder plant. Even a full custom ecu remap wouldn't get more than 6bhp.

El Mech why would a FWD get more traction than a RWD? I don't get it.

This thread is about modifications not gas mileage!

Just look at craigslist to see what the other ones sell for.

More weight up front.

If you have enough power and tire to get weight transfer a rear drive will be quicker with the same power.

High powered front drivers are a bitch to launch as weight comes off the front and goes on the rear. The front end rises, unloading the tires, whether it front or rear drive.

Front drive drag cars have extremely stiff rear springs to combat this. You can see the difference between the two when they launch.

that's what I was thinking. Didn't know about the rear springs though.

On another note, have either of you guys fitted a turbo/charger before?

Nope. My stuff has always been NA.

I like thumping cams. [Image: biggrin.gif]

The sound isn't the best due to phone video, it's a much deeper rumble in person, but you get the idea.

Big blocks for the win. [Image: banana.gif]

Turbos and superchargers are the hot thing now to put on modern factory rides as they have so many bolt on kits, making it easy as pie to build big power. That's why I'm considering turboing my truck.

Thing is you need to take into account the rest of the drivetrain, especially the tranny. If you are changing your trans as often as your underwear it gets old, and expensive, fast.

Have you looked up that corsa forum el mech posted for ideas? Euro rides are way outside my area of expertise, but an engine will always respond to more air and fuel. You just have to figure out the most cost effective way to add both.

Myself, I'd shitcan that 3 banger, possibly with a cheap ass nitrous kit off craigslist, but as I have no idea what else will fit it's hard to give advice. Obviously the factory 1.6 4 cyl will go in it but may have a different trans as well.

Research is needed my man.

That Corsa forum is tits. The 12 sec car was all motor so it can be done. Next up for you is a trip the the junkyard to get the motor, trans you need. I hope you have a garage. Building motors in your kitchen sucks.

I know a guy that used the crated spare 427 for his Vette as a coffee table. [Image: biggrin.gif]

All motor is pretty hot for that little thing. I like how it stomped that RX7.

Speaking of that, the RX with the small block you posted would be a trip. Those things don't weigh much either, so it should be a regular death ride.

I haven't fit a turbocharger to an n/a motor, but I have replaced a couple n/a motors with factory turbocharged drivetrains. The past two cars I've owned have been taken down to a bare shell (and even less) and rebuilt into daily drivers.

It's good fun.

Haha I'm don't have anywhere near your level of experience so I'm probably gona need some help along the way.
I have my summer exams coming up but they finish by the end of this month and then I'll start putting a lot of time into it.

Hotwheels, big blocks are better, but if you saw the price of gas here you'd shit bricks.

Hell, pick up the half finished one. Always cheaper to buy someone else's project if they've done the heavy lifting and part buying.

Or is it a roach? Didn't look bad from what I could see.

He wants 7k and that thing is not even close to what mine would look like finished. I would go 5.0 anyway. Sorry.
