Obesity a 'derogatory' word

A few years back, for the first time in their history, McDonald's showed a loss for a quarter. I live in NYC. It isn't uncommon to see McDonald's restaurants practically on the same block, and both will be packed. The losses came from stores outside the US. They expanded into cities/countries where the natives simply didn't want the food. They closed many stores, and all of the closures were stores outside the US. They will continue to expand here (and several years ago they went to 24 hours in certain locations) because for each of the 3 meals each day, and well into the night, Americans keep walking in and getting burgers and fries, shakes and sodas. It's ingrained in our culture, while it isn't in other countries and simply can't take hold.

So surely whatever they replace the term 'obese' with will soon become a derogatory word too?
It's kind of like the word 'stupid.' You can replace it all you want, but while it indicates stupidity, people will be offended by it, because stupidity is an undesirable condition.

And this is the good news that will help to keep the obesity epidemic in check. Nobody can approach American levels of fattitude and obesity because nobody else has a culture that favors it so strongly. The nations with obesity rates closest to us (save for Mexico) are all about 10 percentage points behind the USA (34% obesity rate here vs. 24% in Canada). Even Mexico, at 30%, can't quite catch us. I don't see that gap closing anytime soon.
I do, however, expect a demographic transition to aid in cutting the obesity rates in many developed nations. Age = higher obesity rates, and our societies are disproportionately old and getting older with time. The previous Generations (mostly Boomers, really) are also the ones that brought obesity and fat tolerance to the forefront. Their eventual passing combined with lower obesity rates among the young (reports of childhood obesity's decline have been spreading), better fat-loss technology and greater awareness of obesity's problems and how to avoid it should make a difference.
It isn't all doom and gloom.

We should come up with new names so fatties don't get upset:
-gravitationally challenged
-positive body image weight
-beautifully curvaceous

Why do OBESE pigs feel they can talk shit about thin and skinny people all day long, but will have a heart attack when people start going after them? I'm sick of this fat PC crap. I get sick to my stomach when I see a fat ass who's my age and feel offended by their fat rolls.

With God's help, I'll conquer this terrible affliction.

Seriously. I get made fun of consistantly by overweight friends/acquaintances because I'm physically fit, as if fitness is something to be ashamed of. It's unreal. However, you're labeled as a hater even with something as mild as "hey dude, you ought to come work out with me sometime. You might see a positive change in your appearance."
Fuck 'em. Fat people neither receive nor deserve my respect.
Dude that's when you laugh at them long enough just to be awkward.

All the obese bitches I know say curvy and voltupous. Which is an insult to girls who are beautifully curvy(that nice hour glass round ass and big tits curve you guys know what I mean) and voltupous(same deal as curvy).
It's like saying someone is retarded, mental retardation is the clinical term. Obese is the clinical term I mean c'mon.

Sugar and salt contents in fast/processed food is ridicuous. Governments should outlaw them and make restrictions on the amount of RDI products have.

No.
It's not the food. It's the lazy Person stuffing their face that leads to fatness. When I go to McDonald's I get 4 or 5 cheeseburgers depending on how hungry I am. That's 1200-1500 calories in one sitting, yet I am not a flabby beast. How? Because I work out and play sports. Stop the press! It's a miracle!
It's not the foods fault. Nobody ever got fat behind their own back. It's not like they woke up fat one day after they had a big mac. They put the food in their mouths. It wasn't an accident. Nobody tripped over and and accidentally swallowed a stray quarter pounder with cheese.
Government regulation shouldn't penalise the providers, it should penalise the consumers of the demerit goods. It's the same with drugs. Nobody forces anyone to buy drugs, drug dealers don't need marketing, drugs sell themselves because people are junkies. The government should focus on eliminating the demand for demerit goods rather than regulating the supply.
I know the salt isn't good for me but i have low blood pressure so I'm in not at risk at this young age.

There should be a RVF political party. Their goal would be returning the world to the state it should be in, and in the process make everyone realise how stupid/lazy/etc they are. PC is absolutely fucking ridiculous. I agree totally with Kitsune and tjames. Labelling them differently isn't going to make any difference, the fact is: they're still fat. If they can't get over that fact and get "upset because their doctor called them obese," then they can take their heart attacks and other health issues, and hopefully rid the planet of themselves. Fatties are pretty much learning from feminism in terms of "justifying" themselves. If something like what houston and Bronan mentioned happened to me, I'd probably lose my shit, especially being someone who was fat as a child.
I was walking up some stairs behind a fatty wearing a skirt the other day.. I had to stop and let people pass me, it was making me ill. Stupid people catering for fatties, rather than forcing them to lose weight.
