Anxiety about Tampa move.

Hey bro, glad to see you coming to tampa area. Im a 27 yr old black dude , and i live in pinellas county. I moved here 4 yrs ago on the greyhound from ohio. Its not as hard as you think, you can find a cheap room to rent for about 200-400 per month on craigslist and live there until you stack your money. As far as the job, situation, you can work in a group home here in tampa, pinellas, or pasco. Theres several companie that are hiring, you just have to know what to put on your resume, i can help with that (PM me). It doesnt pay a whole lot but its easy and you can get some O.T. or get hired at a second company. As far as the women here, you can get pussy all day actually, depending on whats your standards. It seems that tampa and the surrounding areas have alot of loose women, its almost guaranteed. Its also alot of women here that have a black guy fetish lol, but they are mostly trashy. Dont be afraid to make that move, might be the best decision of your life.

I live in Tampa and have lived in the Tampa Bay area for 20 years.

You will get laid here. As El Mechanico can surely confirm, I am no great shakes. I am almost 50, am not in great shape, and don't make much money, and live in a one bedroom apartment, but I've had first night anal with two under 25 YO strippers in the past four years, as an example (though technically one lived in Orlando at the time and I fucked her in NY - long story). Also, I can hook you up with my friend Art Hammer's Dark Caverns Real Players Club, which is a club with parties at different locations in the area where women go to fuck black guys, though other guys like myself are often allowed to attend and get laid there, too.

I have made two moves such as yours in my life, though I had credit cards, which helps, and a bit, though not much, more money.

I wouldn't worry about discrimination in hiring if you have a clean record; in fact, its probably an advantage to not be white in applying for a job as far as I can see. With the Republican convention coming here in August, and u having a PoliSci degree, you could probably go to a couple of Republican Party meetings if u can stomach it and they'll be putting you on the cover of their outreach materials.

That having been said, I don't see Tampa Bay as a particularly dynamic area business and career wise compared to the East Coast of Florida or Atlanta, and as far as drugs, Pinellas County is the oxycodone capital of the United States as just one example, since you seem averse to being around them.

As long as I am here, and its probably at least a few more months before I get it together to move to Medellin, I am definitely in need of dudes to hang out with and wing for me and that I would wing for, so that is one more guy that would be available to hang out a fair amount if u wanted to.

Unemployment is fairly high here, but I'm sure if you hustle you can find some kind of work in fairly short order.

It doesn't take much if anything to become a Florida resident if my information is still current in that regard. Also, El Mechanico would know better if there is emissions testing in Pinellas - it is not a state requirement, and we don't have it in Tampa anymore.

Awesome response. I appreciate the great feedback from you (and everyone for that matter).

I won't do a drug ever again so I have no worries about that.

I am glad to see in Tampa it will be easier to obtain sex. I am part of this board because I am still a noobie in the game. I understand that no area in the world is "easy" if you are starting out in the game, but I figure I can maximize my chances of getting laid by being in an area more conducive to hooking up.

The Republican thing will be a tough one. I am very critical of the G.O.P. and right wing populism in general so I may look elsewhere for political work. I am sure there may be some good fundraising jobs now a days for Democrats (hate them too but what are you gonna do?) since it is an election year and Florida is the crown jewel of swing states.

My car is fine, minus some routine maintenance stuff (wires, spark plugs, fuel filter). The check engine light is on because of an electrical censor issue (I suspect). I got a reading done at Autozone and most of the feedback had to do with electrical. (coolant is full, thermostat is fine). I am not sure if el mechanico works on old school Toyotas (96 Tercel) but I can have him take a look at it and he can give me a quote. Either way, no emissions testing means I don't have to worry about not getting a tag come summer time when it is time to renew.

I would love to link up with you and el mechanico to network, just chat, etc. I will be a lone wolf going into the city so I need to start making contacts and getting advice on how to improve my game.

In any case, your contribution is excellent and I appreciate you writing it out. It really cleared up a lot of cobwebs about Tampa. I really am psyched to be moving to the place.

Awesome. Awesome. Yeah man, thanks for the break down. I am glad were of the same background and age bracket. Makes me feel like I will fit in the scene just like you.

I didn't consider a group home as an option before. Thanks for the tip.

My standards are..well kinda low (beggers can't be choosers) but I mean. I can fuck fat women...I guess atleast a six? lol. More on that later I guess.

But yeah, point me to the black guy fetish girls..wouldn't mind saying hello.

But yeah man, lets link up. I'll PM you for resume tips.

Thanks for the information and vote of confidence.

Oh yeah, my favorite superhero is Batman as well.

Interesting info, i didnt know there were so many guys from tampa on here.

Btw, do you guys see many immigrants in Tampa bay? How easy is it for a foreigner guy to get a job there?

Its really tough for british citizens to get a working visa to usa and im not really flying there to work because i believe i will have enough cash to cover up my expenses during the time that i will be there. But i am just wondering that if i decided to get a job on the side to make extra cash, will i be able to find a job without having a working visa? I just want to know whats the scene like out there for foreigners that dont hold a working visa.

I have no clue about visas and it depends what you know how to do. If you are a master gelcoat and fiberglass guy you can just go to marinas and clean up. If you need to work for a big company at an entry level position you're fucked.

This thread needs some Clearwater kid I will text him. I may not be the best person to ask about "jobs" I've never applied for one in my life.

I am a firm believer in a hustle. Working for other people is a waste of time and brain. You come, you sell shit on craigslist. Done. You can make more money buying and selling golfcarts than you will working for some clown here.

Hey guys, been busy lately with the move. Things are going well thus far. I am staying in Boyton Beach with my some family members. Have a little issue that came up today.

We need to get you in the trailer park asap so I can bang the place out.

Seriously though don't worry about the car and licence for a while. The shit went up so it will cost maybe 500 bucks. We have tons of snowbirds here and everyone has out of state plates. no big. You won't be sleeping in the car in this heat. I burned my lip today getting a drink in the car from my cup. There's more of us rooshians here than you may think. Let me see what I can do.

Okay, so my tag is about to expire (June is the month on there) which means I may need to expedite my car and license issue. That said, I have a check engine light on right now due to some electrical issue. I am assuming I have to get that handled before I can get a tag. The tag expires next month in June. If I have all of June it may not be an issue, though I'd rather take care of this a.s.a.p.

If you are a new Florida resident, you are required to register your vehicle within ten days and get a Florida drivers license within 30 days. If you have an out-of-state drivers license and it has not expired beyond 30 days you can convert your license without taking a written or road test.

Problem: The car, in reality, is in my mother's name. Her name is on the title. My mother is in Georgia. She wrote a request to transfer on the back of the title and had me sign it but I didn't follow through with the follow up. Also, I would assume that since the car and insurance is in her name then I would have to do the emissions tests in Florida, send her the results in Georgia, and she would send me my tag in Florida. How would I get the tag in my name even though I am out of state? Is it necessary? I would rather it stay in her name so she can continue to provide me insurance.

Problem: Registering the vehicle is going to cost money. I didn't see any cost in converting the license. People mentioned I can hold off on that but the literature from the DMV says otherwise.

Good news: My family in Boyton Beach is letting me use their address so I have an address. I am using the address to convert my license tomorrow and to also to look for jobs (easier to get a job with a Florida address). I was going to register to vote as well.

Any advice on my conundrum?

Ahab.

P.S. I will be hitting Tampa by labor day weekend and want to meet up with all the RVF members in the area. I will be staying with a friend in Pinellas County. Still on the move, but it feels great to be back in the Sunshine State.

Just renew the tag and save your money for now. Go to autozone and have them read your engine codes and I'll tell you what's up.

And there are no inspections or emission tests here in Florida. Go to the DMV and make sure they know it was a gift that you paid $0 for.

No inspections and emissions is the reason why Florida has so many buckets riding around.

Cool, Cool. How do I go about renewing it? Do I have to register the car and get the tag at the DMV? My mom won't have a problem saying it was a gift.
