Traveler / Bachelor Recipes

I've never been much of a cook, but I have a kitchen for the first time in a year now and I'd like to learn how to prepare a few dishes.

I think the ideal bachelor or traveler recipe:
-involves minimal spices / cookware
-can feed two people
-doesn't require obscure vegetables / ingredients that would be difficult to find in a grocery store where items are not priced in English

Anyone have any recommendation?

Check out the food section in The G Manifesto:

Just get a girl who'll cook for you. A girl who will cook for you is a girl worth keeping.

I'm actually working on this. I'm up to about 8 basic recipes that don't need measuring cups. My basic strategy:

sliced carrots + chopped onion + chopped green pepper

cubed chicken breast

italian seasoning + paprika + salt + pepper

optional veggies like tomato, eggplant, zucchini, mushroom, spinach

add rice + water OR make a white (milk) or red (tomato paste) sauce out of it and serve over pasta
