New Orleans Data Sheet

Trying to organize this as best as I can. This is my first data sheet.

This is by no means a complete guide to New Orleans, as I only had 1 full day to take this city in, and it wasn't during Mardi Gras. I did do a fair bit of exploring though and this city is definitely worth a visit. GManifesto can probably help me put the rest of this together since he sounds like a New Orleans expert.

I was in town at what I think must have the calm before the storm, as the NCAA Final 4 was the following weekend and I think Tulane and LSU might have been on spring break. That being said, I'll give my breakdown of this place.

Getting to New Orleans:

Flights are pretty expensive right now, but New Orleans is an easy place to get in and out of. The only thing I see wrong with this city is that there isn't a public transportation system that gets you to the airport. Downtown New Orleans is 13 miles from the airport. There are airport shuttles and taxis that take you to downtown, but its usually in the range of $30-40. Hotels in downtown don't offer shuttle service to and from the airport, so that can get a bit expensive.

Getting around New Orleans:

Downtown is small enough to walk everywhere, provided that the weather is cooperative. In the event that weather isn't so cooperative, taxis are abundant and not too expensive because you aren't going very far to get to Bourbon Street and the rest of the main attractions.

Where to stay:

As long as you're staying anywhere in downtown, you can get to any other part of downtown because everything is within walking distance. I stayed at the Hilton on Poydras Street, and this hotel would probably be an instant DHV. Any of the nice upscale hotels would be instant DHV. They usually go for $150-200/night. For the purposes of ONS and SNL, stay near Bourbon Street. There are both smaller name and big name upscale hotels nearby, and probably ideal for SNL/ONS.

Day game:

Didn't do much of this, but during peak tourist times, there are several spots in downtown where you day game lovers can spit. Add this to the fact that you can take your alcohol in the street with you and you get tipsy girls who are open and in many cases easy. At the time I was there, it wasn't too crowded but there were still plenty of options.

Riverwalk Mall:
This is the mall underneath the Hilton on Poydras where I stayed. I had no idea the hotel had a mall underneath it, but my friend and I explored this place and this would be a great spot to instadate in. It also has a Cafe du Monde and it sits right along the Mississippi River. This is a great instadate spot and another great spot to swoop girls at. Plenty of clothing stores where you can talk to girls as well. A huge food court will also have plenty of options as well, especially because every place there serves hurricanes.

Cafe du Monde:

The original Cafe du Monde on Decatur Street is open 24/7 and an underrated spot where you can take a girl to late at night or before you get going. Just make sure not to fill up on too much gumbo or jambalaya beforehand.

Bourbon Street:

This place has got to be one of the easiest places to daygame during heavy tourist traffic. Imagine women day drinking in the street and opening you in many cases. Go custom suited down like GManifesto and you'll get a lot of attention and opened a lot. I wasn't even fully suited down, but girls were opening me because I was dressed a lot better than literally EVERY other dude on the street.

I didn't try this, but if I ever go back, I am definitely going to buy some beads and carry them on me. I saw several girls flash for beads and was thinking how easy it would be to go from that to a swoop.

Every other place on Bourbon Street is a bar or strip club, and they are all alive and kicking during the day. Traffic is probably heavier most times of the year than when I went. It was also raining on and off, which probably kept a bunch of people and tourists indoors for those days. Bourbon Street even had a power outage the last night that I was there.

Other areas:

As I mentioned earlier, this isn't a complete data sheet, so I can only vouch for one other place, which is the Harrahs Casino on Poydras Street. It's right across the street from the Hilton. Plenty of tipsy and drunk girls show up here. There are so many bars in the casino that all serve, in addition to the standard full liquor bar, hurricanes.

Canal Street has some nice stores and a mini mall on it, but we didn't really get a chance to explore.

Night game:

Bourbon Street is where all the nightlife is in New Orleans. Tulane University has a few clubs, but we didn't get a chance to go there. They were also on spring break at the time, so I figured it would have been pointless.

Here's how my night on Bourbon Street went. Within the first 50-100 feet that you walk down the street, you immediately see people with drinks in their hands, tipsy and drunk girls flashing for beads even though it isn't Mardi Gras, and a ton of strip clubs. The street literally alternates bars and strip clubs with an occasional classy establishment or restaurant in between. When you get to St. Anne Street, you start to see some gay clubs. Didn't explore those, but given what people say about gay clubs on here I suppose it could be a nice venue to find girls with their guard down. Oh wait this is Bourbon Street...

First stop was Bourbon Street Blues Company. This place is busy both day and night with a good crowd. They play top 40 and have a guy acting as emcee on the stage of the place. Girls are so open here you can go caveman on them. Even groups of girls that I dealt with and opened weren't cockblocking at all. I got opened a lot because I was dressed better than these guys in jeans and t shirts. Some guys classed it up a little more with V-necks t shirts.

I stayed here for a little while because I went to work on the only Indian girl there. My friend was there to help me distract one of her friends while I isolated and got this girl even more tipsy. My friend with very little game was faring well with the Indian girl's friend, and this girl was way above the girls he normally hits on in looks, body, and overall.

I convinced the girl and her friend to bounce to Scores and this somehow got the girls even more wet, so taking them back to the hotel was cake even though we had to walk back to Poydras Street. Tuth, thanks for your SNL guide. Wouldn't have been able to do this without that.

I smashed the Indian girl for the rest of the night. Woke up and smashed again before parting ways.

Overall:

I would definitely come back here. My friend called it Vegas-lite, and I totally believe it. This place has got to be pretty easy, and I think girls have a Vegas-like mentality here too. If you players get a chance to visit. I'd like to come back and try to do some strip club gaming.

Here's a picture of the girl I smashed.

Any brothas planning to roll thru the NOLA should be aware that 5-0 (NOPD) there have an atrocious history of brutality and mistreatment against the African American community (particularly, men).

Went to New Orleans for new years a few years ago, stayed for five days. Did not have any luck with approaching, mostly my fault.

A lot of girls go there for bachelorette parties. They are easy to spot, stay away from the roaming packs with tiaras, it looks tempting but I didn't find any angle from which you could work and come out on top. Those girls mostly seem interested in tooling guys.

I witnessed some white guys start shouting "fucking niggers" at a group of black guys on the street. Never saw that before in the USA. Racism for black guys is definitely an issue there.

At the time I went, there was a public bus line that went from the airport to downtown.

I'm reading A Streetcar Named Desire right now which is set in New Orleans. In my minds eye the atmosphere seems pretty damn cool. I'll have to visit one day.

Some of the race comments here worry me. I was under the impression that New Orleans was cosmopolitan and open-minded for the Deep South? Hmm maybe things have changed since Tennessee Williams wrote the play...

definitely didnt notice any single person getting in trouble with the police, at any point during my brief stay.

from bourbon street to the riverwalk to the new orleans arena and superdome area.

in fact i almost got in trouble because the security at the new orleans arena didnt realize i was with chris paul and his family that evening, and tried to separate me from them until chris and his parents told them that we were a part of their group.

New Orleans Data Sheet

More New Orleans info:

If you’re in town for a short trip and going for the SNL, then the tourist scene in the French Quarter will be your best bet, the OP was spot on calling it a ‘vegas-lite’ mentality.

French Quarter: Daygaming in the quarter can be money, especially when the weather is nice. If it’s too hot save your energy for the night, when it will still be hot but bearable and the girls will be out in the skimpiest little sundresses they can find. As in the OP’s data-sheet, just walking down the upper half of Bourbon (closest to Canal) will find you plenty of random bars and girls drinking in the street. You can carry open containers in the street, just no glass- you can ask any bar for a 'to go cup'. Another NOLA perk is that bars can stay open 24 hours. I would recommend just walking down the street and poking your head in different places to scope out the talent. Some stand-out spots: Pat O’s: one of the few Bourbon St bars that the locals also frequent. Pretty sweet courtyard that is a nice place to relax but is all seated groups (not good for meeting chicks); however the bars near either entrance are good spots to post up, lots of traffic on a busy night. The famous drink there is the Hurricane (heavy on the alcohol, tastes like fruit juice, good for getting girls lubed up but don't overdo it). Jean Laffite’s Blacksmith Shop: supposedly the oldest continuosly running bar in the country, open since the 1700's and there's no electricity. Not good for meeting girls but a good dark, candlelit bar for taking a girl you met somewhere else for an intimate drink. Gold Mine: late night dance spot that picks up around 1-2AM. the crowd will be packed in tight as hell but lots of drunk girls looking for fun. Jax Brewery upstairs has a young/too drunk dance crowd that can be fun depending on your mood. If you want a more upscale scene check out the more expensive hotel bars, Royal Sonesta, Monteleone, etc.

Uptown/Tulane: some magazine put Tulane on it’s list of ‘horniest colleges’; while most of those types of lists are bullshit, they were on to something in this case. The demographic is heavily skewed to Northeast Jewish girls so if you like these types this is your scene. The Boot is infamous for freshman girls getting drunk for the first time, local high school girls go here too so watch out; if you’re over (or look over) 23 you’ll be out of place here. Nearby is The Palms which will have a slightly older but still college crowd. There's another stretch of college bars nearby on Maple Street: Bruno's, TJ Quills, etc. For the easiest pickings head to late night (don't go before midnight at least) at F&M’s which will have a douchey “frat-type” guy crowd but lots of horny young college girls too, gotta take the good with the bad some times; also there’s an upstairs bar you have to get at from outside that can have a fun crowd. All of these spots are in Uptown New Orleans, about a $10-15 cab ride from the Quarter.

Warehouse District/CBD: you'll find the hottest 'upscale' club-type girls in this area that is just upriver from the Quarter. This is where you'll find the mid to late 20's young professional crowd. Popular spots are the Republic (dance type place with DJ's), the Metropolitan (large warehouse converted into a dance club, usually only open Saturday nights with ~$20 cover, closest thing NOLA has to a 'big city' club.) Lucy's Retired Surfer's Bar is a smaller place where the crowd spills into the street. The Red Eye is dingier but will have the younger college set there too. All of these places are a quick walk away from each other. IME this area can be hit or miss, sometimes the crowds are great, sometimes it's too much of a Jersey Shore Ed Hardy t-shirt scene for my taste.

Marigny/Frenchman St: Hipster Mecca, comparable to Williamsburg in Brooklyn or the Mission in SF. Just downriver from the Quarter, once you cross Esplanade you're in the Marigny. You'll find lots of artsy types here, and a lot of recent college grads doing some post-Katrina rebuilding charity work or Teach For America or stuff like that. Frenchman St has a lot of great jazz bars within a block or two of each other, check out Maison, d.b.a, and Blue Nile, some great music there and also a good mix of young girls (not just hipsters, especially on the weekends there tends to be a better mix of people).

General Thoughts on NOLA: Having lived there for a few years I can say that it is an amazing city that grows on you the longer you're there. It really is like being in another country, they call it the 'northern most Carribean state' and it really does feel like it: they have incredible poverty, corruption, and crime but also the music, good food, and general bon vivant attitude that you find in those other places. One word of caution: watch your surroundings! A lot of people don't realize that NOLA has the highest murder rate in the nation, and has had so for the last ten years or so. Most of that is thug on thug, but there is more random and sometimes tourist targeted violence than people would think (the powers that be have a strong interest in keeping that under wraps). If you're in the Quarter stay south of Burgundy St and you should be fine.

As far as non-game-related things to do I would say catching a good brass band show is a must, try to see if The Rebirth Brass Band is doing any shows, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band is good too. For food well there's tons of it. The chargrilled oysters at Drago's are a classic. Jacques-Imo's uptown is a popular creole joint, long wait sometimes. If you brought your coat and tie check out Galatoire's, a real old school dining experience that is hard to find these days. Cochon is a cool spot focusing on pork featured in Anthony Bourdain's show when he came to town. Commander's Palace in the Garden District is one of New Orlean's most famous restaurants, where Emeril was head chef for years; the cemetery across the street is worth checking out as well. One thing about eating in New Orleans is that you're really only going to find the good stuff in the pricey restaurants, so be prepared to splurge if you want to really experience the food there. Logistics wise you'll be best off staying in the quarter and taking cabs if you're going to venture out more; renting a car and driving/parking will be too much of a pain. Also taking the streetcar to the Garden District/Uptown can be fun and occasionally you'll meet some cute girls on it too, fare is $1.25 one way.

I really think this is in some ways a really under rated city, even though everyone knows about it. I was here last year, and while I didn't really do any game due to the nature of my visit, I found the local girls very friendly and approachable.

There are some awesome places to eat in NOLA. A little on the pricey side, but the foodie experience is totally worth a visit there too.

A couple of my recommendations:

Gumbo at Bourbon House
Bananas Foster at Brennan's

I also tried alligator meat, which was surprisingly good. Weird texture, but still tasted nice because of the cajun flavor.

Chevalier, feel free to add any other cool spots you know too.

bourbon st sucks most of the time. its filled with overweight 40-something tourist women. great musicians playing a bunch of shitty baby boomer rock & RNB covers. the only cool bars on bourbon IMO is lafitte's & Pat O'Briens. If you like weird shit and scary people Ye Old Dungeon can be alright. I used to like cat's meow till I got cockblocked one too many times and then stormed off the karaoke stage in the middle of a song I was singing cause <redacted> lol

if you look at lists that have the best bars in nola, barely any are on bourbon. this list is pretty good: http://www.bestofneworleans.com/gambit/n...id=1834191

for an upscale place nothing beats the randy gerber Sky Blue.

also magazine street is quite a bit hipper than bourbon.

Bourbon is a lot like Vegas. There are always people there so there's not really a best time to go there cause there are always people there. Fills up after every saints game a bit more than usual.

I kinda got burnt out of nola for a while after voodoo fest this halloween. I found myself in a wee bit of trouble and need a breather for a bit because it all looks so black to me right now. lol.

Don't you mean, Whiskey Blue? On the W hotel on Poydras, not the French quarter one, right?

Aside from maybe a handful of spots, everything on getting white women in New Orleans has been covered in this thread. I am going to post about the events that don't get too much attention and where the black/creole(mulatto) women are lurking because we've got a sh*tload of them.

As you probably know, this city is full of festivals throughout the year. Everyone knows about Mardi Gras, Jazz Fest, New Year's eve etc but don't sleep on the Bayou Classic, Zulu Ball, and Essence Fest.

If you are into middle and upper class black women, I cannot think of a better time to come here than during the 4th of July weekend for the Essence Fest. The females come in town in droves and like to hear our accents. It's a breath of fresh air dealing with out-of-town women after dealing with flaky and bitchy New Orleans black/creole women for the rest of the year. All the hotels are within walking distance and the women are right there too, take your pick.

If you are into lower class hoodrat black women with all their juicy asses out in semi-cold weather not giving a sh*t, then Bayou Classic is where it's at. The talent from this past one was pretty impressive. It's during Thanksgiving Break and attracts a lot of people from the south. At this event, you might want to be cautious in case things get out of control as they normally do.

Like every major parade krewe, the Krewe of Zulu has its own ball. The Zulu Ball takes place in the days prior to Mardi Gras day. It is a high-end predominantly black event. Tickets are somewhere between $120-$150 a table that seats up to five. These events are always loaded with middle and upper class black/creole females. I have yet to go but have been invited multiple years.

Otherwise, during the down season, hit the multiple daiquiri shops (away from the FQ) especially on weekends especially Sundays. Also, daygame is everywhere, especially in the French Quarter. I can break down the black spots as well but not now.
