Survival Skills for Cubicle Slaves

I have a tip for those of you in the cubicle.

It's called AutoHotkey.

I liked to spend about 20-30 minutes working, and then take a break, but I had a boss that liked to frequently drop by to talk shop, ask about progress, etc. Most of the time he'd come up and I'd be working but sometimes he would come up right in the middle of a break, and I'd be too slow trying to hide Youtube. It's really frustrating when you've been having a really productive day just to have your boss see you goofing off and assume the worst.

AutoHotkey let's you set a key combo to quickly accomplish a lot of tasks at once. So I'll set it to hide any windows with 'Youtube', 'Roosh', 'Heartiste', and restore windows with 'Excel', 'Word', etc. All these happen at once, and you can set it so the windows aren't just minimized but actually hidden. Once the threat is gone you can have a reverse button to bring your shit back.

If you're savvy you can set it to a lot of macro kind of things to make work faster, I'm still playing with it some.

What kind of tips and tricks do you have to make the cube more manageable?

I wonder if this will hide my remote desktop session back to my home pc. Web filter is up the ass here at work so I just changed my default rdp port to 79 and remote back into home pc

It's worked with a wide variety of programs for me so far. In fact, I haven't found a program that it doesn't work with. You just need to include a specific part of the 'program title bar'.

With websites, the only downside is that if you set it to hide a site i.e. ESPN it will hide the whole browser, including other tabs. So you need to separate your SFW and NSFW browser windows.
