How can you overcome conversational boreness and lack of empathy?
04-04-2012, 02:30 PM
I was out daygamming with a friend. And he pointed out something that I agree I have an problem with. Conversationally I'm boring. THere isn't much life in my conversations, I don't pick up on emotions expressed, and tend to be analaytic and too serious. He mentioned checking out a DJ Fuji but I haven't had a chance to look through all of them.
What make a conversation, even with a boring subject fun and light? How do you to put emotion into a conversation without overdoing it?

There are two Roosh blog posts i like to refer to (i can't post direct links yet so the extensions are below):

In terms of having material to talk about, reading makes sense. I've got a ton of books on my shelf i' slowly reworking through, but i'm also waiting to get a Kindle later.
Also, i've been picking up French just for kicks. While it's rare you'll ever get to use it if you don't travel, other people are usually pretty impressed that you can speak another language and that gives you an excuse to "teach" stuff. And then there are always backpackers and overseas students.

How are you with kids? You have to try to think of women as big kids. You can't have logical conversations with kids. You have to find a way to entertain them and make them laugh. Learn to tell cute, funny, interesting stories. Once you learn to emotionally connect with children you'll be able to emotionally connect with women.

Sense of humor isn't really the issue. Although comic timing could be improved. And I seem to get along okay with kids. But I never really thought of visualizing women as children. It makes sense.
I tend to talks about things in detail rather than stuff in general. Works great for some people, but horrible for a lot of people.

I think some people are just boring and don't know how to talk to others. Maybe try to hang out with someone who's always cracking jokes and getting you to smile. I got lucky because my dad is liek this and it rubbed off. I'm not some real exciting guy but I always get girls to laugh and smile. I think the humor part of game is underrated on here...it goes a long way. Parlay and Giovanny are on point and I think any old school player would ever NOT recommend being a funny dude.

You need to get more experience with people and empathize. Feel from their perspective, then you feel what makes them tick.

OP, how do YOU express emotion?
What do I mean by that? I mean, do you smile, make exciting faces, frowny faces, mad faces, sad faces, happy faces, and shocked faces? Think about this real hard. Learn to master your own expressions and then you will be easier to read by other people.
Imagine talking to someone who never shows emotion. Lay down in bed, close your eyes, and think about it.
