TL;DR; Version: What emotional frame and attitude do you need and what tactics do you need to use to game a girl who is smoking hot physically but had a really annoying personality?

I had an interesting situation on Saturday.
I went to a bar in DC to watch the NCAA Final Four. I see a very hot girl with her fat friend sitting at the bar. The bar is nearly deserted otherwise - welcome to the recession in DC. I sit down next to them with one seat between us. I ask the smoking hot girl (shg) "I don't know much about college basketball, but what is up with the incredibly ugly jerseys?" (Louisville had florescent red headache inducing jerseys). This starts a bit of a decent conversation, at first.
Since SHG is the only cute girl in the bar, she and her fat friend quickly gets attention from the bar staff, but I have to admit the staff had game. One bar tender started hitting on her fat friend and started pouring shots. He even poured me a shot and said "Look, I want to sleep with them but I have to pour you a shot so it doesn't look like I want to sleep with them." That made me laugh, and not just because I got a free shot.
SHG, sadly, gets more and more attention whoring as the game goes on and the conversation revolves about her bragging about getting free drinks around town while yelling and swearing about the game in an annoying fashion. I smile politely but groan inside. I have no ability to keep her attention since she and her fat friends (another showed up) scream and yell and swear and gossip with each other and get attention from the bar. The worst was when KY made a key shot and she went around the still quite deserted bar looking for high fives. I put my hand up when she asked but of course did not apply pressure.
Now, if you want to know why I thought SHG was SHG, she was the descendent of Canadian prairie Ukrainians. She was a blue eyed brunette with a great face and a great body. But god damn she was annoying.
When the game ended (I actually did want to watch the game), I get up to leave. I say great to meet you and hold out my hand going for a clinton two handed hand shake (you gently grab the wrist or forearm with your other hand). She pulled me in for a hug. This surprised me. I had not expected that. Don't worry, I won't read too much into it, but I do think that I should have tried to get her number, despite the high probability of a flake or rejection. But I am wondering how one deals with a case where you just don't dig the girl personality wise but want her physically, especially when she is surrounded by people who will accommodate her annoying behavior and if you are going to ask for the number, when her fat friends are right there.
While I would prefer to just go after girls who have great bodies and great minds, that's not always an option.
