Do you trust someone else to store it or do you do it yourself?

I use http://www.kitco.com for most physical purchases and am very happy with their service

They can store it or ship it to you

Occasionally I use local coin dealers if I want an all-cash transaction

If I buy online I use APMEX. I have a safe at home for my guns, and precious metals. If you can't touch it you don't own it.

I was just using apmex also. Does anyone buy copper? I feel you should be well rounded precious and base...what do you think?

I'm going to stick primarily with the silver. I think it has a better upside than gold. Why? Because silver is used commercially in high end electronics.

There's lots of gold mining clubs in California you can join. They have proven reserves, and all the mining equipment for rental. It's hard work in rough wilderness, but actually pays. You'll be getting real gold the old fashioned way.

California still mines 9,400 ounces of gold each year. Every time I'm in Grass Valley the locals talk about strange sounds and activity around the large local mines that were shut down in the 1950s. The owners have registered permits to reactivate, but haven't registered any production yet. The problem is Grass Valley is kind of a tye dye and patchouli oil hippie retirement area now. Getting strong young men willing to work the mines will be a challenge. Most likely they'll have to be imported.

If you've ever wanted to be a gold miner, opportunity is knocking...

"Alpha children wear grey. They work much harder than we do, because they're so frightfully clever. I'm awfully glad I'm a Beta, because I don't work so hard. And then we are much better than the Gammas and Deltas. Gammas are stupid. They all wear green, and Delta children wear khaki. Oh no, I don't want to play with Delta children. And Epsilons are still worse. They're too stupid to be able to read or write. Besides they wear black, which is such a beastly color. I'm so glad I'm a Beta."

Dubai - a good friend buys it there at pretty close to spot price. If you buy large quantities it will pretty much cover the cost of your holiday.

...

Hong Kong is supposed to be the one of the few places in the world where the difference between the actual market price of gold and the
seller's profit margin is smallest, giving you the best value and most savings.

Also, I think many people in Hong Kong buy their gold coins and bars in major banks (like HSBC or Bank of China) rather than local dealers.

Can anyone confirm ?

If you purchase a whole lot of silver, scrap or coin, and you want to liquidate, how do you do so? sell on ebay? Goto a local dealer? Whats the best way to do it without getting hosed?

If you don't have the gold, then you don't have the gold. Take physical possession of the gold and place it in your safe-deposit box.

I wouldn't buy it cross border. That's a great way to get it seized at the airport by customs.

Copper is highly correlated to inflation so its dead for a while. There is a niche forum with a lot of copper guys at realcent.com

In addition to Apmex, check out Provident.

In Canada you can just go down to your bank and order some; they'll show up a couple of days later.
