This is what makes hockey

the funny thing is with hockey players is that they probably would go out for a drink after they fought. Some sort of culture hockey has.

I used to play at a high level in hockey and remember all those goons from the 80 s and 90 s. old time hockey as they say from the movie slap shot.

Entertaining in my books.

Good ol' Devils/Rangers. This has been an ongoing thing all season. Opening faceoff? Let's fight.

Good fight.

One of my favorites:

Here's a hockey thread I made a while back, come on over there too and join the discussion. Good ECHL brawl I posted in there too, Cyclones vs Express

Any hockey fans in the house?

Nice video Tomtud, classic hockey brawl, that's what I love about this sport. Hockey players can be some of the biggest goons on the ice (can't think of any other pro sport where guys can throw down bare knuckle like in Hockey), but off the ice, they are among the most classy, down to earth guys in pro sports, case in point this guy:

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/ma...index.html

From the article:

He was headed home, crossing the Roosevelt Bridge over the Potomac River, when he saw a woman and her daughter stranded next to a late-model Acura. The car had a flat tire. Laich could have kept his foot on the accelerator of his SUV -- he had been having his own rotten night, you know? -- but he slowed and pulled over in front of the car to see if he could help. The woman, Mary Ann Wangemann, who happened to have been at the game with her 14-year-old daughter Lorraine -- they were both decked out in Capitals apparel when Laich stopped -- said she had already called for auto service but a high volume of calls was backing things up.
So Laich, whom they immediately recognized, went to work.
Reportedly the tire change took 40 minutes. At one point the Acura fell off the jack and Laich, dressed in a going-to-work suit, had to start anew. Finally he finished. And it was then that Mary Ann asked for a hug. Laich had one for her, another for her daughter.

How about my man Bob Probert, may he rest in peace.

My second favorite, Tony Twist:

I went to college in St. Louis, and that whole city loves the Blues. It's too hard to follow hockey from where I live, except during the playoffs, but I love it.

Hockey is full of contrast, thats what makes it such a great sport.

I dont follow the Habs much but this to me makes up the other half of what is so great about hockey.

The irony...headed to a LA Kings game in an hour. Used to play for 12 years. Never met a fly chick whose eyes didn't light up when I mention I used to play. Best sport hands down.

Kona, tony twist from the st louis blues another classic. I remember watching a hockey documentary or show and A few hours before game time he would have his hockey gear on excepts the top portion. He was quite built and intimidating and would go to the bench and watch the other team have a skate around. All to intimidate the other players. Which sport does that happen? Classic.

Bob Probert is a legend!

Yes, any hockey fans in the house, gonna have to contribute there. This video is what makes hockey that much more exciting. Everybody was standing in the house and you can feel the electricity as the expression goes.
