Why D.C. Might Not Suck

Well, I'm doing my part to TRY and get out of DC (attending college hundreds of miles away, getting a credible college degree, building up a resume in a position that can easily be done in the private sector, voting for Ron Paul, etc, etc, etc), but nothing fucking works, this goddamn motherfuckin country just will refuse to create jobs outside of the DC area, and truth be told, I don't have the money to "wait-it-out" for a job in economically OK cities like Houston, Austin, and Seattle. I guess it harder for me by default since I'm a DC native (despite being treated like shit in this city way more than any other place I was a visitor), but I know goddamned well that DC should not be this hard to emigrate from. It's the damn government that's taking this country in an economic hostage and forcing people who have degrees and want to work at a job with (relatively) decent pay and where you can keep (some of) your dignity choose DC. Either that, or stay in friedlier lands, but take your finance/accounting/JD degree and work at Starbucks or Wal-Mart.

But back to the topic. I personally have no patience to deal with DC especially since I have to work there. DC might not stay up 24/7, but the douchebaggery never sleeps. "Happy hours" in DC is mostly about networking and cliques being cliquey. DC day game (for those who have the trust fund to game during the day) is mostly filled with bitch shields, hyperinflated female SMV, and "knowing your place".

DC sucks. Face the Facts. The only thing that gets blown out of proportion is the general (non-club) ratios, and that 99% of the women are walurses (a majority 55-60% might be, but it isn't in the 90th percentile). But as I explained above, it really doesn't matter.

What DC offers is JOBS that pay enough for you to travel. So it's either live somewhere else and HOPE the chicks are better OR live in DC and make Delta, U.S. Air, United, British Airways and a slew of hotel chains rich.

I just moved away from DC to the SF bay area which is only slightly better.

I'm curious what your impressions of the Bay are coming from DC. I've lived in the South Bay for six years and when I read posts about DC I'm always struck by the similarities between the two; overeducated women that act like men, 5's that think they're 9's, etc. If I'm going to have a high cost of living I might as well do it somewhere that has a decent talent pool hence my impending move to L.A.

Yeah it you want to do a DC bar suck list what would be 100 times easier would just to do a "decent DC nightspot list" since it will be way shorter, and it can just be implied everywhere else sucks.

I stay in VA and get play here....I know its not the "happening" place DC might be perceived as, but it works for me and less bitchyness overall. There really is a horrible vibe here that you won't find other places. You really get the girl in the corner intentionally looking straight through you just to show how "tough" and independent she is.

DC is a powerful city, love it or hate it there really are some powerful people here. Of course the problem with that is for every wealthy lobbyist, top lawyer, or CIA agent (yes plenty of all of those here..) you have the hangers on , the wanna be's , the almost were's, that want to be percieved as in the know and powerful too. This creates a horrible environment of one ups man ship that can get carried away in certain circles. Its odd because some parts of the city are completely ghetto and like polar opposite of that, then just a few blocks away you have assholes in sperry boat shoes (super popular here) khaki shorts and sweaters tied around their pastel pink, green or blue colored Lacoste shirts talking about their bank accounts or their fucking lacross glory days.

Yep Instead of creative folks (musicians, actresses, artists) that you might find in LA or NY or some cool ass blue-ish collar type people in most other cities you have uppity snobs or hood rats.

Rocco's pretty much spot-on. Nearly no modest upper-middle income people (Seattle, Denver) or kick ass working-middle class people (Pittsburgh, Houston) exist in and around the DC beltway.

Here's my conundrum. I'm currently in Clarendon, and while it's still better than DC, I'm still close enough to run into the broski & preppy poseurs you see in Georgetown. That personally puts me in a shit mood just as much as dealing with the yuppies and hoodlums. I've found a few spots where I can get into the mood to make moves, but what towns/neighborhoods would you recommend to go to get away from the Georgetown stench, while still being around twenty-somethings?

From what I've seen recently Arlington has been the best talent at night, although its starting to feel more and more like a frat party

@Gorton's - get in touch with me by PM, I have some ideas depending on what you're into.

@Brian - Yeah Arlington has talent as far as if you're driving by or looking from a far. I mean soley on looks there are tons of cookie cutter, "thinnish" white chicks that are into swimming and Yoga and all the other yuppie white people shit. They are def. cooler and less defensive than DC chicks, but the only thing that sucks is they are still a little too into their friends opinions. Its all still like, meet her and then a table full of her drunk sorority sisters (replaced now by coworkers or running club buddies) for the thumbs up or down.

Why D.C. Might Not Suck

I've noticed a trend the past few years going out in DC. The best venues to go to usually have some type of EVENT going on. Last Saturday was a good example of this. I went to a bar downtown that usually sucks BUT that night the ratio and quality was good. I later found out there was several events going on that night. I remember 2 black limos pulled up and 10 smoking hot blondes came out. It was diverse inside too...lots of european girls, persians and some beautiful black women.

Last summer I tried the Dupont happy hour scene(which is god awful btw) but i remember one day I stumbled into public bar and the middle floor had a charity event that was virtually ALL women. I was stunned!

And I've mentioned in the past on this forum that the one good night I had at park on 14th had the sickest ratio and quality I've every seen. That night there was a "Hottest bartenders contest". I swear that night had 4 floors of 7s, 8s and 9s.

So basically you guys need to network and meet some promoters and bar/club owners. These guys know when and how to get the chics out. Try to distance yourself from older venues that don't have events. Focus on new bars and ones having EVENTS. Hopefully this will ease your DC pain.

Now that I realize this and know exactly when and where I need to be...I FUCKING LOVE DC!

thats some great insight. it fits w/the mentality of the DC chicks who are too cool to just go to a bar to hang but like to be seen at whatever retarded event themed party is thrown together because then they can talk about how they went to 'whatever for the cause' event last night and it was so spectacular. any idea where these events are published? online lists or anything?

Start here:

http://dc.metromix.com/events

But I will warn you. A lot of events aren't posted online. After that amazing happy hour I witnessed at public bar I went home and tried to search for it and came up with nothing. Thats why I was saying you really have to network. I know the lurkers on here want me to name drop some amazing bar with hot horny chics but it really depends on the event(or luck).

Couldn't put it any better myself. I've posted on this topic several times in another thread "Just How Bad Is DC?" Put simply, while you're based in DC, this is BY FAR the best solution to dealing with the lack of talent in DC.

It's also been noted in other DC-related threads by many longtime DC veterans that this city absolutely fell OFF A CLIFF circa 2009. After the global financial crisis, 4 things happened here, and they happened at a rapidly accelerating rate:

1) Wages began to plummet throughout the U.S.
2) Wages began to rise in Washington, DC. (See: Expansion of policy-related govt. jobs, and thus defense contractors to support said jobs)
3) Good looking girls (the few 8+ that were here) began to pour out of the city.
4) Policy-oriented, MA-wielding pasty overweight females flooded the city.

These four factors are all increasing, and they are increasing faster than the day before. They have combined to create a toxic, shocking mixture of unattractive females in what is now (might want to sit down for this one) the richest city in the United States. Restaurants, hotels, bars, you name it. They're going up on every corner with no end in it. It's got all the ingredients on paper for a young, single man to live a thrilling single life. Then you actually see the people who live here.

In short, till you get out of here, take your high wages and BOLT to the nearest airport on Thursday or Friday. Looking back, you'll thank yourself.

Well, crap.... I just applied for a job in D.C. I live in San Antonio, TX. I have to say though that the women aren't bad here but the majority of them are fat... Ya know the fat chics with cute faces... Forbes lists this city in the top 3 most obese [Image: undecided.gif]. "31.3% obese. Calorie rich Tex-Mex cuisine is a factor in the high obesity rate. City officials are exploring solutions, with. The National League of Cities will provide San Antonio, along with five other cities, with experts versed in healthy eating and active living."

Anyhow, I can't move up in my field here and I'm 26 so I'd be looking at a significant raise if I moved up there, but the last thing I want is the life sucked out of me. Seems like D.C. really sucks or some of you have no game. I have visited a few times for work and went downtown... wasn't too bad considering the women. Just seems like anywhere else, you have to play the game. If you do find a city where women throw themselves at us (men) then let us all know. I have yet to find one, well minus Japan... That's another story though. haha

So advice about moving to D.C.? Ya'lls posts make me feel like life is going to suck!

if you are going to move up here because you think you will be making more money dont underestimate the cost of living adjustments you are going to be facing by moving up here.

You need to talk to younger girls if you're in SA. Lie and say you're 21. I would only move to dc if I was stuck in some tiny town.

DC sucks horrifically... if you can avoid coming to DC, do so! New York is where it's at, the girls will approach you there. In DC you will get blown off by girls that should be on the Animal Planet channel.

There are no good solutions for DC. Arlington = guys in gay uniforms (sandals, shorts, baseball hat) and the girls that love them, Maryland suburbs, same shit. Georgetown = frat boy hell. DC = roll in with your BMW or Maserati and get some love from the foreign girls or pretend you're into liberal causes because you're going to be dealing with a bunch of liberal political hos that moved here from Minnesota or Wisconsin. I can't add to what Rakishness said.. everything blows here... I'd love to post one club or bar here that doesn't suck, but they all do.

To be honest, I'm thinking of making weekend trips to WVA or Baltimore and hit on some redneck chicks and see what's going on there.

Not only is that link hilarious but it gives you idea of what type of venues to avoid in this city. Basically anywhere those SWPLers hate is where YOU need to be.

If they hate X bar on U st. GO to X bar on U st. That probably means the venue is fun, social groups are interacting and the chics are DTF.

Side note: Def go to Bar Code tomorrow. You might hate the noise but at least you'll realize this city does have some very high quality women.

Some of those you mentioned I find pretty funny Rakishness, because I regularly pull from one or two or use as a transition on dates.
