Goa is supposed to be a bit different from the rest of India because it's kind of a hippie/raver refuge. So his chances of hooking up with a westerner is incredibly high considering the type of tourist girl he will find there.

Good point. And a quick look on wikitravel lists a decent number of clubs. NeVerGymLess, hopefully you'll have better luck getting laid in India than I did. Give us a report when you get back.

Most of the action is in North Goa. I don't know where you are from, but most of the tourists tend to be predominantly European. British, Germans and Russians. Actually a lot of Russians. There is also a pretty healthy contingent of people coming from Israel.

Candolim beach is where the more upscale resorts are and the beach is quiet compared to further up north. Avoid Calangute is mainly filled with local tourists. Baga beach has a lot of action during the day and at night there are plenty of bars. Anjuna is where a lot of hippe action happens. There is a Hippie Market every Wednesday that is packed full of tourists, vendors and trance music. It is a must.

If you hang out at the right places, it should be pretty easy to get laid.

sorry to hear that. But take advantage of the situation. I've had 2 friends get laid off, and they both spend 6 to 9 months doing nothing, looking for another job. What a waste. They could have traveled abroad in that time for less than their expenses were in the US.
