English, Spanish, and Portuguese. Speaking 3 languages well enough to sleep with girls with them is one of my proudest accomplishments.

Not sure if serious. Extremely impressive but there comes a point where you aren't overcoming looks. He doesn't seem like the type to roll out with a lot of style.

I think you missed Sourcecode's sarcasm.

He is married to some Macedonian chick, IIRC.

Sargon: to clarify the rule, you can only get 1 language notch per language, regardless of how many girls you slept with in that language. So assuming you have gotten at least one english bang, you actually have 3 language notches, not 7+. [Image: smile.gif]

So if I banged 4 Colombian girls in Spanish, 2 Brazilian girls in Portuguese, 1 Russian girl in Russian, and XXX girls in English, I have a total of four language notches.

Alright, then yes, that would mean I've got 3 language notches.

On a side note: women (at least those from East Asian countries) warm up to you a LOT when you show you can speak (at least some of) their language, or if you show you know multiple languages in general. This is magnified by the fact that in places like China and Japan, people have this preconception that a foreigner knowing their language is like a TV spouting legs and walking on water. Add the fact that you're exotic and it's incredibly easy to start random conversations with strangers and be met with a minimal bitch shield.

Yep, it even works in the States too. Not so much with Spanish because it's so common, but anytime I hear Portuguese being spoken I take it as a license to open with "excuse me... voces sao brasileiras?". I never get the bitchy vibe and they usually get really curious and ask a bunch of questions since they basically never run into gringos who speak Portuguese.

1) English
2) French
3) Spanish

Language notches should take into account countries though.

Spanish? About 22 countries in the world count it as their first official language.

Getting DR notch, an Argentinian notch, a Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Colombian, Paraguay and Uruguay notches in Spanish which I have should not count as 1 notch.

You can count them all as flags, but the point of the language notch is that it requires you to build up an entire new language to at least a low-to-medium conversational ability. It's a difficult thing to do. You can't tell me that banging two different nationalities that speak the same language is the same thing as getting two notches using two different languages.

For building rapport with limited language skills, I make use of settings that don't require continuous speaking. For example, cinema with an English language film and foreign subtitles

I always found cinema was a terrible date, even worse with a foreign girl who's English is not so good. You don't build ANY rapport sitting in silence watching a movie.

Quote:Quote:

Example: one guy with rudimentary Portuguese was opening nightclub girls with "Eu tenho um gato nas minhas calças" (I have a cat in my pants).

Stuff like this is good. Can get a laugh. In Brazil someone taught me all these random phrases kids got taught when learning English at school, I forget them now but they were all really strange things to learn so I used to just roll up to women and say them and they'd be in stiches, shouting on their frinds telling them what the funny gringo just said and asking how I knew that. Worked a treat.

I think the only time I've gotten laid with a girl and we didn't share any common language was when I first arrived in Brazil. I knew maybe a couple words, her about the same in English. Nothing too useful for having a conversation. I remember the Brazilian guys I'd befriended coming along and laughing at how absurd it was that I'd pulled without being able to talk to her. I'm not sure what we did to communicate to be honest but it wasn't long before we were off to a motel.

I don't know if anybody else does this but when I change to my non native language,Russian,my demeanour changes. As in my voice becomes deeper and I undergo physiological changes subconsciously. I had a UK friend visit me in Kyrgyzstan when I studied there and when he first saw me speak Russian he remarked on how my demeanour changed,I stood straighter and my voice went more alpha. I think that speaking in a different language allows you to escape who you really are for a short time.

Agreed Vorkuta. I seem more beta speaking in English than my native language, even though I'd say I'm equally comfortable with both. I speak more softly, with less expression and in a monotone voice. Might be because the time I spent abroad using mostly English coincided with a major beta/depressive period of my life, and when I use the language I subconsciously revert to that frame.

I got three - English, Russian, Bulgarian.
Could work on the 4th because I speak some conversational German, but all German girls speak English too and when I've spoken to them I use my English, which is much better than my German.

Roosh, you are going to motivate me to brush up on my German skills just so I can add a 4th flag and rank among the elite in the forum.

By the way, is this really your first Russian flag - I'd think you already have one. There are many Russians in DC and some of them actually party on U St. where you used to hang out (I've met several in Chi-Cha lounge).
Or was this just your first Russian language flag?
Anyway - congrats, and I think you will be hooked...

I'm only at one language at the moment, but I'm currently studying 4 languages, so I'm hoping to rectify this in the not too distant future.

Does swooping a language teacher count?

I have 3:

1) English (native)
2) Spanish (Argentinian girl)
3) Farsi (Persian virgin recently moved here from Iran)

I'd absolutely love to have Russian as my 4th, and Portuguese as my 5th.

This is really my first FSU flag. It's been a sore spot for me not to have one, having lived in DC and all.

I think you're better off getting really good at 1 language which will cover the majority of your travels rather than conversational in a half dozen. The amount of people who claim to speak a language is absurd in real life. Then when I hear them speaking in spanish, they are still trying to figure the difference between basic things like el/la and soy vs. estoy. Get really good at a language and then move onto others.

I speak Czech,Russian and polish in conversational level.90% of my czech girlfriends did not speak a word of English I had only one polish girlfriend who could not speak English at all though.70% of Ukrainian and 100% of Russian spoke no English as well.

Slavic languages have an advantage. You can be understood without using correct grammar.I also switch from one language to the other for example when I do not remember a word in Russian I say the polish equivalent and it is usually close I get understood.Especially Czech and polish are very close to each other you never fail when you use one word from the one language to the other.Slavic languages are mutually intelligible I have seen Serbs,Russians and Czechs communicate between each other speaking each own language with no problem.

I agree 100%. I think a good goal is to get to the point where you can maintain the new language by talking to girls through the internet or meeting immigrants, reading books, or any other type of enjoyable activity.

I do agree that people say they "speak" a language only when they know 200 words and can only ask for directions.

I think a lot of these Youtube videos where a dude is speaking 10 languages are cases of memorizing scripts. I can say a couple sentences in Russian well enough that in a video people would say "Oh cool he speaks Russian!" But I don't.

Smartness counts. To learn quickly a language you must think fast. Not all guys are fast thinkers. You have to be able to understand the whole sentence when you grasp 50% of words. This means being smart and fast to fill in the gaps.So one needs some imagination.

Generally the sounds of slavic languages are quite similar and slavic girls get relative facial expressions when they talk so I always guess what they say although in some cases I miss some words.

Correct grammar in slavic languages is a pain in the ass. They have 9 cases(English has only nominative and accusative) and all of them require different endings. How to remember all these endings?Even Slavs make mistakes when they speak.Fortunately though even with awful grammar you can be understood if you keep the roots of the words.

Seven notches in Swedish
One notch in German

The Swedish really shouldn't count, however. I was raised bilingual in Swedish and English, but when I am in Sweden I will occasionally pretend to be just a foreigner who has picked up some of their language.

Another thing I will do is pretend to be monolingual so that I can eavesdrop about whatever they are saying about me.

I find approaching girls in my native Swedish to be frustrating as my conversation in Swedish is not as intelligent or witty as it is in English. I use English much more than Swedish so my English vocabulary, cultural references, and witticisms are richer. My good stories I am used to telling in English, not Swedish. Pretending not to speak Swedish properly (or at all) makes me seem exotic, interesting, and gives me an upper hand right away.

I remember one time a game I played against some other Greek guys. There were these hot looking Czech girls who went to buy icecream. The guys were sitting at the cafe exactly by side of the girls and were waiting till they finished their order in order to talk to them.At that time I walked fast and intervened from the opposite side.I started talking to the girls in Czech while they were standing. The guys could not understand a thing. Then when the girls sat down I called by phone my wings who were nearby. They came in less than a minute and I positioned them strategically to completely block the access of guys from the next table.I told them not to tell anything to girls and continued to speak in Czech. When the girls were into us and I introduced them to my wings I started speaking English to engange my wings.
At that time I looked at the guys in next table and they had the look ''I will kill you.''

Here's an interesting piece on polyglots, and the ability to learn languages.
