He's desparate if he buys you a drink

Just heard this from a girl on the radio a minute ago. This re-affirms the belief that buying girls drinks is for betas. The basic idea of the quote amounted to: the types of guys that buy me drinks are the guys that are desparate in the 11th hour, trying to gain whatever ground they can. This is from a woman's perspective fellas! Don't be a beta, don't ever buy a girl (that you are not banging*) a drink.

*even if you are banging her don't buy her drinks if you can avoid it. This is not being cheap, this is being sensible.

Isn't the whole point to get her drunk?

I completely disagree with the whole "never buy girls a drink" theory.

I wrote about it here: http://www.thegmanifesto.com/2008/09/the...ts-ii.html

I can understand why pickup artists claim to never buy girls drinks (although I am sure they do).

You just can't do it from a point of weakness or desperation (which is the way most guys did it before becoming pick up artists).

If you do it from a point of strength, non-chalance and style it is a great move.

Think Bugsy Siegel ever bought girls drinks?

Think Sinatra ever paid for a girls drink?

Of course they did. In fact, they would never let a fly girl pay for her own. (I understand we live in a different era, but moves on high quality girls still apply.)

To expand on this further, never lead with buying a girl a drink, and never use it as an opener.

Qualify first.

Buying a drink is a great isolation move, and gives you a chance to show mastery over your domain ie knowing the bartender.

Side note: "This is from a woman's perspective fellas!" - never listen to a woman's advice on other women. Especially one on the radio.

It's like martial arts. Follow the rules strictly when you start training (i.e. don't buy her a drink), and then when you get the black belt you'll know when it's okay to break it.

Yeah, that is a good way to look at it.

I agree if you are a "white belt", it is probably not a good move to buy a girl a drink, because you cannot pull it off with panache.

I think there is too much "never do this", "never do that" in the pick up artist world.

It is always about how you do things, not what you do. And about how you say things, not what you say.

Fair enough, I think she did mean the guys that open with "Can I buy you a drink?" Is there a weaker opener? Agree with what you guys are laying down though.

Previous answers have cleared this up to the OP.

But just to expand what G said, I think it also depends on which type of girls you are dealing. With high class-society girls, you are supposed to be an educated gentleman for those little things as money related stuff, then you pay, but is not part of your game, it is just part of the social norm.

When dealing with girls like that, I just buy the drink, as opposed to "invite" her, it is a subtle change in the way you do it. As it goes, most of the times, they either pay my next drink or all subsequent, if they didn't invite first.

What that radio girl is describing is a guy who goes along the lines of: "hey! bla bla bla, can i buy you a drink?"

That is desperate.

As Roosh said, if you are white belt, it is a fine line to not cross from being plain cheap looking to a girl from being an ass who thinks only on himself. I think we all agree that the elegant, yet rude bastard attitude is the one that gets you women challenged to conquer you, then you just rack up notch after notch

I usually will send the waitress to offer drinks.

It works.

Aloha!

Stylish. While you're chatting, motion the waiter and order her a drink unprompted, without asking her.

I've hardly ever bought drinks.

But if the girl were nice and the scene were right, especially if I met her elsewhere or on a different day, the move above is not bad.

Another move with somewhat mixed results is to send over drinks to girls across the bar.

Real old school move steeped in history.

I have tried it a few times. Some airballs when I was younger.

Best done in a custom suit in an old school hotel bar with a mysterious vibe.

When it hits it is real artistic.

This once led to a woman actually throwing the drink in my face.

I think I was dating her best friend at the time.

I thought they only did that on tv.

Ha!

Who threw the drink?

The girl you sent one to?

Or the girl you were dating?

The recipient was the thrower. I was romantically involved with her best friend.

My brother and I got into an argument once and he threw a bloody mary on me. It was like pepper spray.

Be careful out there.

Brilliant! Plus it looked like you'd been down on a chick in rags week.

i agree, it's a feel thing. occasionally it's fine, depends on the context and all that. i see way too many momos falling over themselves to buy some barslut a drink or shot because they have no game in the first place.
