I also gain weight in Colombia. Every breakfast is eggs, hot chocolate (lots of sugar), and arepa de chocolo. I had to get a gym put in my place just to survive. In Colombia, especially in Medellin, they are partying every weekend. How many calories are in 2 bottles of agurdiente red top? The amount of rice and beans that I eat here is insane. My problem is that I love the food, go figure...

They sell a sugar-free version of aguadiente...which tastes exactly the same as the original version (like crap) but I'm sure it has a lot less calories.

The reason for that is because the sugar-free version reduces hangovers. Apparently, the sugar is what causes them in aguardiente.

Personally, I like the licorice-flavored Colombian drink. Absolutely necessary in Colombia just like Cachaca is in Brazil.

I've acquired a taste for aquardiente too, always sugar free. No reason to go for the red top. Sugar is what kills you. It's also nice that I thinks it's only about for proof not eighty or one hundred. So, while the flavor is sitting e alcohol content isn't. You can roll with the sugar free and save some inches on your waste instead of gassing tebn beers)

Also, no guys here drink light beer o diet soda. It really is considered a little I masculine. Even the women often won't go for diet drinks. I don't like getting stared at but I'm too old to need the extra sweetness from a regular soda, and ian the states I always try to DNA light beer to cut out some extra, empty calories.

Rinestone, how long is your work visa? I always get the 2 years visas and I've had to renew 3 times. Did you get a longer one?

Just one year. I'm up in September so I could technically go through the end of 2012 and then start a new tourist visa which would put me here midway through 2013.

Why have you had to renew three times???. After five years of visas you should be able to get dual citizenship, no?

You mean Rice, Beans, carbs, starches, and sugary soft drinks ...
RED MEAT, BREAD ... whole Milk ... SUGAR ... Greasy potato balls. margarine and cheese

Hold on, you have named three of the four food groups! Obviously we need to throw in a bunch of vegetables. Then cut out the sugar and fat.

But MiXX, what the heck do you eat? I believe you put a premium on appearance through diet and exercise. But that must be tough with your travelling. I suspect you "go local", find gyms and grocery stores, and also have some travel workouts. Please enlighten us on your ideal diet and exercise plan, your regular or travel plan, and your crash fitness program.

After you read that link, the crash fitness part I do starts at post #67.

** I DO NOT RECOMMEND BEGINNERS/INTERMEDIATE ATHLETES TRY THIS FITNESS ROUTINE!! It is EXTREME, and I am a fucking psycho, but well worth it if you can pull it off. A lot of the exercise I do come straight out of Secret Service Agent training (I am not in the secret service, or have I ever been, and cannot disclose how I know the physical routines their candidates use).

I've been eligible for residency after my last renewal. I don't want to get residency due to double taxation rules. So I'm stuck renewing every 2 years. Be sure to check into all of the downsides of becoming a Colombian resident or citizen before doing it.

That wouldn't have occurred to me, good tip.

I may have to independently get a visa next year. ....is that what you're doing or is it through a company in Colombia?

Access to fast, ready made, processed food with lots of salt, fat ,cheese and an overwhelming car culture tends to do in most of the population when it comes to being obese or fat.

But,there's a good amount of people in the US that don't follow that and stay in good shape by eating well and exercise,.....mostly the better off and more educated.
