Taipei City Recommendations

I just arrived in Taipei, Taiwan about a week and a half ago and have hit all of the major areas and night markets, but was wondering if anyone who's been here has any underground recommendations for the food or bar scenes.

So far some of my favorites have included the Shida zone and Xindian. In Shida a few friends and I toured straight up on of the many night market streets, trying a bite of every last unidentifiable meat, seafood, or vegetable...Incredible, but I recommend steering away from the hot oil-soaked tofu stations.

In Xindian, heading across the pedestrian bridge, you'll pass a group of old, drunk men singing karaoke to find a place for the best dumplings I have tried so far here. We just randomly picked 4 sets of 5 dumplings since we couldn't read the menu too well and successfully scored curry flavors, pork, squid, and a set with some sort of onion ginger mix.

So far things have been fascinating. Danshui was an entertaining spot up north on the water, but I'd really like to venture out so if anyone has spent some time here or enjoyed some winning experiences, I'd really appreciate it. I'll be here until January so despite my international urges for the Far East, I'd like to uncover a lot of Taiwan perks.

Thanks

Hey there,

If Taiwan is anything like Shanghai, you are not going to have a good time doing day game. I have never been to Taipei but I assume to a certain extent that what works in Shanghai will be equally as effective in Taipei, as I've heard Taiwanese girls are DTF.

Hit up facebook and other popular expat websites. Do a round of browsing, poking/messaging, and "sending interest" on those dating sites. Girls who are DTF will answer you and give you their MSN/Facebook/Phone Numbers. Schedule a couple of dates throughout the week and of every three or four you will bang one.
