^^Nice trip report LowercaseG, +1 from me. Can you recommend any big night clubs in the Zona Rosa area of Bogota? I'm leaving Medellin tonight to meet three of my Gringo buddies to party there for a few days, I don't usually go to the big clubs so am unfamiliar with them but I know that those guys will want to hit them up.

Thought you guys might like to know that the UBER car service is in Bogota.
https://www.uber.com/cities/bogota

It is also in Cali.
https://www.uber.com/cities/cali

Looks like it is a bit cheaper to use in Cali.

I may have to check this out, hopefully they use bigger cars than the dinky little yellow taxis, thanks for the heads up.

I was in Bogota for a month last year, I thought Armando Records(Calle 85 # 14 - 46 ) was very good, and if you want to get off the gringo trail, Piso 30, its in the Residencias Tequendama building, good talent, good electronic music, usually gets going later though.

Look I am Not trying to discount your findings....but i have lived here for going on 2 years....and I find some things in your report that are off...and need to be clarified.

First of all I am assuming you were in Bogota during the holiday season....this city slows down BIG time....the main reason I left to visit family back in the states this holiday season is I had to learn that lesson the hard way last year...tons of people/students filter out of the city....and slowly start coming back to Bogota towards the end of January....

I live 2 blocks from Zona Rosa.... in fact I was out this past weekend at two clubs in Zona Rosa that were packed to the gills with smoking hot colombiana's.....my friends and even the Colombiana I was with, could not stop commenting on the quality of the girls and the percentages; about 60-40 girls to guys.....along with the non existance of gringos....counted maybe a handful of gringos in the clubs I was at all night. I believe this was in part due to all the people returning to the city and going out with friends and family.

Again not trying to slam your report, but it is well known that Sunday-Wednesday Bogota and almost all of colombia....including Medellin, and Cali are slow nightlife places during the week (even worse during the holidays DEC-JAN), as most colombians work, go to school, and simply dont have the money to go out and party. However after living here you tend to figure out the wednesday spot, thursday spot, etc....but yes it's not a crazy nightlife city like NYC where everynight there is something or someplace going off.

However, I can tell you on the weekends Thurs, Friday, and Saturday outside of a holiday weekend, the Zona Rosa in Bogota has more hot ass running around. In fact sometimes I almost prefer it during the week as its not so crowded and still a great after work (happy hour) spot to grab a beer or martini, and a bite to eat.....but yes most of the big clubs will not even open during the week (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday) not enough volume.......

The key during the week is after work lounges, martini bars, and pubs, always sets of chicas roaming around usually higher end girls with careers or money (which I prefer) the difference with these working colombianas compared to the girls with careers in the states is they encompass both feminity, traditional values, and have some intelligence. (Thats for another thread)....Zona G is another great area to hit for cocktails or appetizers over 30-40 restraunts, pubs and lounges in that area...always booming during lunch time as well....stacked with smoking hot colombianas....you can also hit the college bars or bars in Chapinero....tons of punk and Rocker bars, but these do start early and can be hit or miss during the week....but that is another area that is full of action come the weekends..Then there is Candeleria.....but outside all of these are tons of other nightlife areas Galerias, Usaqueen, Calle 147, Unicentro....and more....

Finally the lawlessness factor your talking about....I prefer to live in nicer areas like Zona Rosa at my age, I dont wanna worry about getting rolled or robbed everytime I step out of my apartment thats not comfortable to me...Luckily I have a good job and can afford this lifestyle, but thats why I live where I live.....

But with that being said Bogota is massive and has more lawlessness than I ever want to know about... I dont know many cities that you can purchase $6-$10 grams of cocaine off the bouncers of any club so easily, or find any drug you want for that matter, Bogota has a whole crazy fucked up red light district with hundreds of casa's, strip clubs, brothels, trannys you name it (Sante fe Zona Tolerencia) I would not recommend walking around late at night.......trust me that area is about as lawless as I have seen in all the world....There is so much to this city that a few months is still not enough time to nail down the scene. But again trust me this city has lawlessness....

I am just offering some perspective, but I can tell you lots of the fellas I work with here love the fact most gringos bolt out of Bogota after a few days or the hipster backpackers stay holed up in Candeleria, and eventually lite out to hit the coast, Medellin, Zona de Cafe or Cali....I have said it time and time again...

Bogota has way more to offer as far as international restraunts/cuisine, night life, adult venues, shopping than any other city in Colombia just by sheer numbers....its a massive city!!! There is always a festival or food fair, or art show, film fest.....something to get into.... But I know thats not for everyone, we all have different tastes.... Bogota is by far my favorite of the three (Cali, Medellin, and Bogota)....I am a big city guy.

oh yea the weather factor....always a tough sell in Bogota....but for me I love it....dont mind overcast if I get cool weather....cant stand hot and humid as I wear a suit/jacket/tie often for work....but the past 2 months its been for the most part sunny with highs in the 60-low 70's (san diego weather) my favorite temps....but yes this is dry season...and there is a rainy season that can be cold and grey.....

The other factor for me is Bogota is a travel hub for not only Colombia, but the Caribbean, Central America, and South America....I can find relatively cheap and direct flights to Havana, Rio, Buenos Aires, Miami, or hop a cheap domestic flight to Medellin, Cali or Cartagena whenever I want.

At some point when I find the time I will list off some venues and places for the forum....There is so much to this city, even I am still discovering new venues and places, and as my spanish improves more and more oppurtunites keep presenting themselves to me...For me Bogota is a great city, with a gritty vibe, high end venues, and debauchery if you want it.....it takes time and effort to really get to know this place....but there is so much upside... I dont plan on leaving anytime soon....

I don't disagree. I did not spend a Friday or Saturday in Bogota, and yes the seasonal influence was apparent as things were more lively the day I was leaving.

good input both of you. I was in Bogota for 1 week and it does have a lot more to offer than I thought. Once I took the bus and just started going to random areas, I realized, this place has everything for everyone, but you have to know where to look. I ended up in Centro then Santa Fe then back to Chapinero where I was staying. I went to a bunch of centro comercials and there are so many and so nice but a huge ripoff of course. You can get the cheapest stuff here or the most overpriced crap. It all just depends on where you go and what you want, but if you want something. Bogota will have it. It's just so big.

There's some really great info in those posts above guys and at http://www.rooshvforum.network/thread-9327.h...ht=bogota, it's really helping me to envision what I want to do when I get there.

Given my preferences, I think Chapinero is where I should stay (I like to be somewhere nice and safe, without being in the really premium part of the city, and I like to be able to walk most places I need to go during weekdays - language classes, food and local drinks etc). The best website mentioned seems to be http://www.amoblado.com/search2.php (although it seems a bit buggy in my browser). Are there any others I should try? The apartment Scotian stayed at sounds pretty ideal for my preference. I'll PM Scotian for details but if anyone else who has stayed there has the details, please pass them on! [Image: smile.gif] If anyone knows anything similar: $600 - $800 dollars / month, clean and presentable and no problem bringing girls back, please let me know! [Image: smile.gif]

I'll probably stay in a hostel for a couple of days at the start just to get my bearings. It would be easiest to stay somewhere in Chapinero also so I can get used to the area and to make apartment hunting easy. Anyone got a recommendation of a good hostel there?

And of course, anyone in Bogota for the next month from Febraury 18th onwards that wants to hang out, chase girls, drink a beer or similar, send me a PM!

I went to the Zona Rosa in Bogota last night with my two Gringo buddies, who spent the last 3 weeks partying with me in Bogota, Medellin, Cartagena and Santa Marta and we all agreed the hottest women we all saw during their trip was last night.

And last night was a Sunday...... I like how this sounds! [Image: whip.gif]

And how would you rate last night's talent vs Cali? The general consensus on the boards seems to be that Cali has the hottest women (outside Bogota at least). What's your take on it?

No we went there on Saturday night for a couple of drinks and for whatever reason, zona rosa was packed, I've never seen so many people out partying there and I've gone there quite a few times. I wouldn't say that Bogota has "the hottest women" in all of Colombia in terms of the average girl walking down the street, I'd say that would go to Medellin, but being the capital, the sheer amount of women you'll see in the zona rosa at times (weekends) is very impressive. Also, the women are pretty high class there and dress very well, since its colder in Bogota, the people dress up very nice in trendy coats, dresses, scarfs, etc, something that you don't see as much in the warmer cities.

As far as how the women compare, I think Calenas are on average more attractive than Rolas, but I like darker women, which there are a lot more of in Cali than Bogota, Calenos are warmer people and the women easier to approach and Cali has a lot less gringos than Bogota (and especially Medellin) so there's more of a novelty factor there. Its all about personal preference though, the women in Cali are amazing dancers and quite friendly, whereas in Bogota its a lot easier to meet very well educated, higher class women, depends what you're after I guess.

Bogota is a cool town. I spent a little over a week there at the beginning of a two month Colombia trip, then another week at the end of the trip. The first week, I don't know if it was the altitude or something, but I got terribly sick. Still banged two girls. The last week I came there I got 5 new notches. 4 of them SNLs/same date bangs. Just go to La Villa. It's the gringo "hack bar" that you can go to pretty much any night from tuesday to saturday and have a good time. Gringo tuesdays is a good night. the actual language exchange is from 5-9pm then it becomes a regular bar/dancefloor scene with mostly western music. This is the most gringo friendly venue in the town.

I know Mixx said Bogota was tough, but really, Bogota has to be the easiest place in Colombia to get laid.

Armando Records is another place a block away from La Villa (all of this is in Zona Rosa). I have a friend who pulled an SNL from here. It's slightly more upscale but still not too upscale. The great thing about La Villa is that it's a chill place where you can be a gringo and roll up in a t shirt and jeans, get in, but the crowd will be decently dressed, and a number of girls that comes here will be down to fuck, or at least open to your approach. I got multiple pulls in one week from here, so obviously this place is pretty ridiculous.

A thing about bogota people: they tend to dress very well. It's not like cali or medellin where t-shirts are more common even in high end clubs. Because bogota is pretty chilly, people wear more layers. If you go to a more fancy club, suiting up will not make you feel out of place. In fact, I wish I had a suit for the high end places here. One place I went to that was pretty high end was called Kinky's Disco, real close to the zona rosa branch of Andres Carnes de res. One quarter of the people there were homosexual though.

Other interesting clubs in zona rosa near La Villa: The mint (open a few hours later than the rest, which normally close at 3am), el coq (which is pronounced "el cock") and a really loud dance club right next to it called 11:11.

There's another interesing place calle Kea right across the street from La Villa, which is a bit more of hipster vibe version of armando, and a bit smaller as well.

The best hotel in zona rosa as far as location is concerned is Saint Simon, which I booked through booking.com. It's about 60-80 bucks a night depending on the week you book.

I went to the calle septima con 51 place that Scotian recommended in this datasheet in Chapinero, and frankly I would NOT recommend it for western style pickup. It's more table based game, where mediocre girls are surrounded by many college friends. This area not only has lower quality, but is also more difficult due to the poor setup.

I stayed in a place called Hotel Brisas del Oasis, which i booked through booking.com, and it was only 28 bucks a night. The room had no windows, and was pretty much a shithole, but the location is decent, and girls did not care when I brought them back. You shouldn't have a problem bringing girls back here as there is basically no door policy.

another area that is supposed to be alright for night game is called Las Galerias, which I have not been to so I can't really confirm if it's good for pickup.

I'll be arriving in Colombia soon and I'm thinking about hitting up Barranquilla (because i lived there before), medellin and Cali mostly. I have spent a couple days in Bogota before, but I'm wondering if I'm making a mistake not spending more time in Bogota. Any thoughts?

I was surprised when I saw blond women in Arauca, Colombia. I thought they didn't exist there!
