I feel that the whole "being a musician gets you laid" thing is kind of a misconception. I've been a musician for 15+ years, and most the guys I know who are the best musicians really don't do too well in terms of getting pussy.
It's probably the social proof of being in a popular band that gets you laid more than musical skills do. Technical proficiency at an instrument is lost with women--notice how guys in pop acts and boy bands get way more pussy than a virtuoso.
