The majority of high-industrialized nations are set up like this in some form or another. When the G7 was created each founding member had to relinquish its sovereign abilities to create its own money. This was a requirement for entry and overnight you literally had the largest economies in the world shift to all being under a private monetary system -things have gone down hill ever since.
