It's a taboo in Hungary, but the gypsies actually make up 10-15% of the population. They are woefully undercounted in official statistics (2%? yeah right!).
If Save the Children somehow have accurate stats of infant mortality including all the rural gypsy ghettoes, that would probably account for Hungary's poor showing in this area. Therefore white Hungarians do not necessarily have quite so bad poverty and child mortality.
