I am saddened in a way that is hard to explain. I have never been there, and yet it feels in a way like losing a part of something personal. I immediately imagined what would be like if Jerónimos in Lisboa or the Santa Sé in Porto were to burn down. Except it's an even bigger symbol of the West's downfall. It's a 'rome is burning' kind of moment.
