I know a few people working in State DEPT jobs overseas. It has amazing perks, but to get into the higher level jobs of management or HR in an actual embassy involves a fairly detailed process.
Again I don't have all those details down, but I know it involves a lengthy screening, solid references, I would imagine a college degree or military background,
The background checks are very thourgh and I am sure you would sign over access to social media and other information. I know the process also involved a 3 day intense interview and workshop/team projects in Washington D.C. which my friend attended. Full of tests and interviews.
If you further progress to the next stage they will interview past employeers, and I have actually talked to these people they ask fairly heavy questons on the applicants background so I am sure they got through your background very extensilvely.
If you do get the job you have no say where you will get posted....Usually gigs last 3 years and then you have to return to D.C. or stateside for a year or so before you are placed again abroad.
The danger postings do pay better with an increase in bonus pay....The housing stipend and other perks and pay are very impressive!
