Is there a way to marry a foreign woman without fear of divorce rape?

Comments:

1: You will still need a I-129 Visa to bring your fiance/wife to the United States no matter where the marriage takes place. It does not matter if you first marry her overseas, outside of the United States and then try to bring her into the United States. She will need a I-129 visa.

2: It does not matter if the marriage is a legal or religious only ceremony for US Divorce law. Once your wife is in the United States, she will be able to use the state divorce laws just like any other spouse could. She could also 'forum shop' and move to a state that had what she felt are better divorce laws for her situation or circumstances. Also note that since she is here under a I-129, she will be considered legally married, no matter what the ceremony was. (Remember, if you are not married when she enters the United States you have 90 days to get married otherwise she has to exit the United States.)

3: Do NOT try to hide assets, from a divorce proceeding, if you are married and in the United States, especially if we are talking a large amount. While you 'may' get away with it, if you get caught you might not only end up with half or more of your assets gone in a divorce, but you could also get some jail time.

As an example:

"Here’s a court case that really drives home the point. Back in 1999, a Los Angeles family court judge ruled that a woman had violated state asset disclosure laws because she neglected to reveal she had won $1.3 million in the California state lottery . . . just 11 days before she filed for divorce!

According to the Los Angeles Times, the judge in this case determined that the wife had acted out of fraud or malice, and as a result, he awarded all of the winnings to the ex-husband.

Since California is a community property state, the husband would have been entitled to receive half of the lottery fortune --if the wife had properly disclosed it. Instead, he was awarded every penny of the $1.3 million."

So here was a woman who won the lottery, filed for divorce, lied about the money, and the judge awarded ALL of the lottery to the guy because the wife lied to the court.

4: As a side note, if you are already concerned about losing half in a divorce to this woman and you are not even married yet, WHY WOULD YOU MARRY HER?

How does getting married to her have any benefit to or for you whatever?
She will get all kinds of benefits, especially where at any point she can take half your stuff, and maybe get alimony for a long time, just because she 'feels like it'.
