If your friends insist on Sweden (Stockholm I'm guessing), look into taking a ferry to Helsinki, Tallinn, or Riga for your second destination. It's comparable in distance as getting to Norway or Denmark and at least for Tallinn/Riga will be much cheaper than Norway/Denmark.
