I liked my icebreaker merino underwear. Smartwool ones, not as much they were a little heavier. The smartwool merino low profile socks are a must for traveling.
If I was traveling for a really long time where you are sweating alot, I'd maybe recommend the V-necks, but for a week or so of travel, I'd just say go with a nice cotton V-neck/polo. I'm really into Uniqlo and Bonobos, personally.
