His lymphocytes and neutrophils are also off, which are indicators of HIV.
They indicate infection not necessarily HIV. I have done tests in the past when i was negative where my WBC was out of range due to acute illness.
Do you know which type of immunoassay they ran? Maybe they didn`t use the latest technique? It`s true that low t-cells can indicate many things. There`s individual, racial and gender differences in the first place. Also latent viruses like CMV and Epstein-Barr can have an effect. Wouldn`t hurt to do some more immunoassay tests, and to shop around for the best labs to do them.
