I'd say that for the majority of people Owen is a lot more useful. Not many people get excited about race statistics, but it is something inherent in the human spirit to feel moral outrage at injustice - and people like Owen, which appeal to that feeling, have a better chance of reaching hearts and minds. Alt Hype was for nerds, Owen is potentially for everybody else - and I am not particularly a fan, but I understand what he does and what his appeal is.
It reminds me of that famous excerpt from a Bezmenov lecture:
Hard data never moved anyone to change their life. The data on the destructive effects of porn has been available for a long time, and yet only now that people are finding spirituality again you see a lot more going against it.
