Montreal is probably your best bet. I quite enjoyed Toronto, but the amount of flack that city gets on here is probably no coincidence, and I was rolling with people I knew, so didn't get the full experience.
Montreal has a lot of cool cultural stuff, it's kinda like a city from Europe in Canada. I am a big fan of it. Don't come to any land-locked 4th tier cities, I am working my way out of one right now.
