Caricature is a tricky business. I've posted about this before; how I once lost a girlfriend after being egged on to draw a cartoon of her (I'm something of an amateur cartoonist myself). I was young and daft and foolishly depicted her as I saw her ....... double-chin and all!
I learnt a valuable lesson that day and have always been careful with which friends and family to 'depict'; they have to be able to take a joke and laugh at themselves. All this is without even dealing with racial differences. The cartoonist was undoubtedly playing with fire (personally, I would have been more cautious), but I'm satisfied he isn't the dreaded 'R' word. Although he might well be now of course.
