Seems to me there's only ever a small number of name performers doing porn, and out of those, most don't stick with it as long as in the past. But when you look at what's actually being uploaded to the tube sites, there seems to be a huge amount of amateur or wannabe types who may only make one clip. Before the streaming revolution there just weren't enough videos being produced to support such a cavalcade of flesh. But today, with the barrier to entry so low, it's really more akin to personal exhibitionism.
I have no data to back this up, but I think for any reasonably attractive girl, there's a very high chance she will do porn in some shape or form, under the illusion that it's an exciting rite of passage and/or a quick buck and nobody will ever find out. Maybe in days gone by it would be a modeling stint but today it's stripping and porn.
