This is exactly my motivation for shorter trips.
For 1-3 month stays, there is usually something specific I want to do in country X. Yes, years ago that was "practice game" or "sleep with X girls a day." Nowadays there are completely different reasons, usually skills i want to learn.
For my bases, I make a decision based on my preferences. It is tempting to choose a location where girls are easy. But I know from experience that no girl, no matter how amazing she is, was able to make me stay in the past. So there is no point.
