I definitely have enjoyed the laughs on this thread, and I will basically agree that you don't just land a board of directors job.
(1) You have to have a track record of success , or some sort of standing in the industry.

(3) One way to actually implement this is to start small. First perhaps as a volunteer on a non profit board, or get a low paying position on the board of directors for a small company or gov't organization. Then you work your way up.
Generally you have to start, or run or be part of critical decision making in a company before people put you on the board of theirs.
