When you talk about Iran you have to realize that Iran is not Iraq.

If for example the Ayatollahs fell somehow and you brought back the son of the Shah in order to be the secular shitlord there, then the overwhelming majority of the combat-age men under 40 would support him:

Here 100.000 fans chanting Reza Shah.

But here also another incident just a few months ago:

Quote:Quote:

In Mashhad, in December 2017, and in many other cities around the country, there was also this ominous chant; “not Gaza, not Lebanon, my life for Iran,” a reference to what protesters said was the regime’s focus on foreign adventures at the expense of domestic well-being.

That’s not something Hamas, which runs Gaza, or Hezbollah, which controls all of south Lebanon, wants to hear. Hezbollah’s indispensable supporter has always been Iran; it has no other state supporter. As for Hamas, as a branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, it is regarded as an enemy by the two most powerful Arab states, Saudi Arabia and Egypt. In Egypt, General El-Sisi came to power by crushing the Muslim Brotherhood and deposing Mohamed Morsi. Hamas still manages, from its bases in the Sinai (and with some weaponry supplied from Hamas-ruled Gaza) to attack Egyptian soldiers and police in the Sinai, which only serves to strengthen Egypt’s hostility to Hamas.

Not GAZA, NOT LEBANON, MY LIFE FOR IRAN! They don't give a rat's ass about the conflict in Israel. Sure - they would fight if attacked, but if a surgical team of assassins came over, took care of the Ayatollahs and then a few generals pledged their allegiance to the son to Reza Shah, then that country could be highly stable. Some kind of conservative secular form of Islam similar to Christian countries in the 1950s would be acceptable to most.

But we won't get that - it will be Ayatollahs and then war. Though who knows ... the longer the war is not happening, the higher the chances for the more liberal (in a good sense this time) young people to take up ever greater part of the country. Because who wants to be arrested for playing rock/hard rock/jazz music in his cellar?
