Personally, I think, there is a misconception about South Africa. Like most places in the world it depends where you go, I was in Cape Town and there huge miss of people. I went to Joburg and was slightly different. The people were a lot more friendly. But the blend of people what was a lot more limited. I would recommend experiencing both, don't worry flights aren't that expensive. I checked out “www.flysafair.co.za” at the flight cost $50. Apparently, Durban also has a very different feel, didn't get the chance to check out, but wish I had just for a comparison. Basically, I think comparison and experience and are important before reaching a conclusion.
