I can speak first hand to the value of shoulders/traps.

I started back on deadlifts today. My shoulder got sore (rotator cuff impingement?) from lateral raises a month ago. How do we efficiently get a good yoke?

I never do raises.

I stick with shrugs mixed with both seated and standing shoulder presses. This is combined with the occasional squats (for balance-I hate doing them and since I don't play ball anymore I don't need to, but I don't want my leg strength to go), a whole lot of bench (I usually just rep out every other day on about 225lbs, slightly inclined, go until failure) and ab work. Curls are supplementary(I do them in between sets of shrugs/shoulder presses).

This workout hasn't changed much in 8 years(I do a bit more shoulder work now than I used to since I know how important that is). Combine it with a relatively low car, low fat and high protein diet and things are good to go.

What does your daily meal intake consist of? What do you suggest for a taller male who is trying to do squats? I cannot go parallel without leaning forward. Any tips to bypass that?
