Not entirely likely but possible. I believe that culture is more important than race in determining where societies head. Just look at the disparate outcomes between different US subcultures within the same race. Trailer park people don't enjoy much of that "white privilege" while non African American blacks tend to substantially outperform economically and socially while living here.
And look at Christian Ethiopia compared to the rest of Africa. Only part of Africa that was not colonized because they could fight off small squads of European men.
They did more than that -- they fought off full-scale Italian invasions with vastly inferior technology and weaponry. Only Mussolini's use of chemical weapons brought the Ethiopians to heel.
