According to the show they got into contact after he send her messages after seeing her pics on Instagram or Facebook. She ignored him for about a year. Then they traveled in Europe a couple of times. He had spend around $ 70.000 on trips and gifts before she came to the States.

They have weird interactions on camera, almost every scene with them seems staged/fake, and there is speculation they aren't actually a couple but created to be on the show.
