If you really want the girl, there is a way to do it but it may be a bit difficult. Since 8 months is a really long time and you mentioned that you might be viewed as a beta, the way you should go about it is to (in my opinion), try to swing her view of you from beta to alpha. Do not approach her right away because after 8 months of not approaching her, her view of you is a beta. What I think you should do is to show your alpha traits. First things first, stop looking at her as she walks by and don't stare at her(girls notice this). Begin to talk to other people in the gym and be social with everybody to show that you can social with anyone so when you do go up and talk to her, she won't feel as though you need her attention but you are drawing her into your social state.
